गर्व करो की हम हिन्दू है !
1)अलबर्ट आइन्स्टीन – हम भारत के बहुत ऋणी हैं,जिसने हमे गिनती सिखाई,जिसके बिना कोई भी सार्थक वैज्ञानिक खोज संभव नहीं हो पाती.
२)रोमां रोलां (फ्रांस) – मानव ने आदिकाल से जो सपने देखने शुरू किये ,उनके साकार होने का इस धरती पर कोई स्थान है ,तो वो है भारत.
३)हू शिह (अमेरिका में चीन राजदूत)- सीमा पर एक भी सैनिक न भेजते हुए भारत ने बीस सदियों तक सांस्कृतिक धरातल पर चीन को जीता और उसे प्रभावित भी किया.
4)मैक्स मुलर- यदि मुझसे कोई पूछे की किस आकाश के तले मानव मन अपने अनमोल उपहारों समेत पूर्णतया विकसित हुआ है, जहा जीवन की जटिल समस्याओं का गहन विश्लेषण हुआ और समाधान भी प्रस्तुत किया गया, जो उसके भी प्रशंशा का पात्र हुआ जिन्होंने प्लेटो और कांट का अध्ययन किया ,तो मैं भारत का नाम लूँगा.
5)मार्क ट्वेन- मनुष्य के इतिहास में जो भी मूल्यवान और सृजनशील सामग्री है,उसका भंडार अकेले भारत में है.
6)आर्थर शोपेन्हावर – विश्व भर में ऐसा कोई अध्ययन नहीं है जो उपनिषदों जितना उपकारी और उदात्त हो. यही मेरे जीवन को शांति देता रहा है ,और वाही मृत्यु में भी शांति देगा.
7)हेनरी डेविड थोरो – प्रातः काल मैं अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता को अपूर्व और ब्रह्माण्डव्यापी गीता के तत्वज्ञान से स्नान करता हू ,जिसकी तुलना में हमारा आधुनिक विश्व और उसका साहित्य अत्यंत क्षुद्र और तुच्छ जन पड़ता है.
8)राल्फ वाल्डो इमर्सन – मैं भगवत गीता का का अत्यंत ऋणी हू .यह पहला ग्रन्थ है जिसे पढ़कर मुझे लगा की किसी विराट शक्ति से हमारा संवाद हो रहा है .
9)विल्हन वोन हम्बोल्ट- गीता एक अत्यंत सुन्दर और संभवतः एकमात्र सच्चा दार्शनिक ग्रन्थ है जो किसी अन्य भाषा में नहीं .वह एक ऐसी गहन और उन्नतवस्तु है जैस पर सारी दुनिया गर्व कर सकती है.
10)एनी बेसेंट -विश्व के विभिन्न धर्मों का लगभग ४० वर्ष अध्ययन करने के बाद मैं इस नतीजे पर पहुंची हूँ की हिंदुत्व जैसा परिपूर्ण,वैज्ञानिक,दार्शनिक,और अध्यात्मिक धर्म और कोई नहीं.
इसमें कोई भूल न करे की बिना हिंदुत्व के भारत का कोई भविष्य नहीं है.हिंदुत्व ऐसी भूमि है जिसमे भारत की जड़े गहरे तक पहुंची है ,उन्हें यदि उखाड़ा गया तो यह महावृक्ष निश्चय ही अपनी भूमि से उखड जायेगा. हिन्दू ही यदि हिंदुत्व की रक्षा नही करेंगे ,तो कौन करेगा? अगर भारत के सपूत हिंदुत्व में विश्वास नहीं करेंगे तो कौन उनकी रक्षा करेगा? भारत ही भारत की रक्षा करेगा. भारत और हिंदुत्व एक ही है

புது ரேஷன் கார்டு வாங்குவது எப்படி?

உணவு பொருள் வழங்கல் மற்றும் நுகர்வோர் பாதுகாப்பு துறை சார்பில் புதிய ரேஷன் கார்டு, ரேஷன் கார்டில் பெயர் நீக்கம், சேர்த்தல், நகல் அட்டை, வேறு ஊருக்கு மாற்றுதல் போன்ற பணிகள் செய்யப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

ஆனால் பெரும்பாலோருக்கு புதிய ரேஷன் கார்டு வாங்க என்னென்ன ஆவணங்கள் கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டும் என்பது தெரிவதில்லை.

புதிய ரேஷன் கார்டு:

புதிய ரேஷன் கார்டு வாங்க செல்பவர்கள் புதிய குடும்ப அட்டைக்கான விண்ணப்பம், குடும்ப அட்டை இல்லாததற்கான சான்று, முகவரி ஆதாரங்கள் (வாக்காளர் அடையாள அட்டை, வீட்டின் சொத்துவரி, மின் கட்டண ரசீது) மனுதாரர் அல்லது அவரது குடும்பத்தில் உள்ளோரின் பெயரில் உள்ள காஸ் இணைப்பு ரசீது நகல் ஆகியவற்றை கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டும்.

புதிய ரேஷன் கார்டு பெற ரூ.5 கட்டணம். 2 மாதங்களுக்குள் புதிய கார்டு வழங்கப்படும்.

கார்டு தொலைந்தால்:

ரேஷன் கார்டு தொலைந்துவிட்டால் அதற்கான விண்ணப்ப படிவத்துடன் இருப்பிட ஆதாரச் சான்றை எடுத்து செல்ல வேண்டும்.

சான்றுகளை சரி பார்த்த பின் புதிய நகல் அட்டை மட்டுமே வழங்கப்படும்.

இதற்கான கட்டணம் ரூ.10.

பெயர் நீக்கம், சேர்த்தல்:

ரேஷன் கார்டில் பெயர் நீக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்றால் குடும்ப தலைவர் விண்ணப்ப படிவம் மற்றும் ரேஷன் கார்டு கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

குடும்ப தலைவர் மரணம் அடைந்திருந்தால், இறப்பு சான்றுடன் அவரது வாரிசுதாரர் மனு கொடுக்கலாம்.

பெயர் சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்றால், சம்பந்தப்பட்ட குடும்ப தலைவர் அதற்கான விண்ணப்பிக்க படிவத்தை அளிக்க வேண்டும்.

விண்ணப்பபடிவங்கள் காலை 10 மணி முதல் பிற்பகல் 1 வரை பெறப்படும்.

consumer.tn.gov.in என்ற வெப்சைட் முகவரியிலும் தகவல் கிடைக்கும்.

உழைப்பின் பெறுமானம் தெரியவரும், அன்பின் தேவை உணரப்படும் போது.

அன்பின் தேவை உணரப்படும் போது…!

மகன் : அப்பா நா ஒரு கேள்வி கேட்கவா ?

தந்தை : கண்டிப்பா.. என்ன கேளு..?

மகன் : 1 மணி நேரத்திற்கு எவ்ளோ சம்பாரிப்பிங்க ?

தந்தை : அது உனக்கு தேவை இல்லாத விஷயம்,
நீ எதுக்கு இது எல்லாம் கேக்குறே ?

மகன் : சும்மா தெரிஞ்சிக்கத்தான் சொல்லுப்பா

தந்தை : "உனக்கு தெரிஞ்சே ஆகணும்னா சொல்றேன்
மணிக்கு 100 ரூபாய் சம்பாரிப்பேன்

மகன் : "ஓ (தலைகுனிந்தவாறே) அப்பா நா
அதுல 50 ருபாய் எடுத்துக்கவா?"

தந்தைக்கு கோபம் வந்தது …

தந்தை : "நீ இவளோ பணம் கேக்குறது ஒரு நாய்
பொம்மையை வாங்கி விளையாடத்தானே ??
ஒழுங்கா போய் படுத்து தூங்கு நான் இங்க உங்களுக்காக நாய் போல
உழைக்குறேன்…"

அந்த சின்னப்பையன் அமைதியா அவன்
படுக்கைக்கு சென்று படுத்துக்கொண்டான் ..

அவன் தந்தை மகனின் கேள்விகளை எண்ணி மிகுந்த
கோபம் அடைந்திருந்தார்.

1 மணிநேரம் சாந்தம் அடைந்து யோசித்தார் மகன் ஏன்
இப்படி கேள்வி கேட்டானென்று ..

ஒருவேளை அவனுக்கு நிஜமாகவே ஏதோ அவசிய தேவை இருந்தால் என்ன செய்வதென்று முடிவுக்கு வந்து மகனிடம் சென்றார் …

தந்தை : "தூங்கிட்டியாடா ?"

மகன் : "இல்லப்பா,. முழிச்சிட்டுதான்
இருக்கேன் …"

தந்தை : "நா உன்கிட்ட ரொம்ப கோபமா நடந்துகிட்டேன் ..
நாள் பூரா வேலை செஞ்சதுல இருந்த கோவத்துல திட்டிட்டேன் …
இந்தா நீ கேட்ட 50 ரூபாய் .."

அந்த சிறுவன் புன்னகையுடன் படுக்கையில் இருந்து எழுந்தான் ..

மகன் : "ரொம்ப தேங்க்ஸ் ப்பா… "

அப்புறம் அந்த பணத்தை எடுத்து தலையணை அடியில்
வைக்க போகும் போது அங்கு ஏற்கனவே சில ரூபாய்கள்
இருந்தன ..

அதைக்கண்ட தந்தை மறுபடியும் கோபமடைந்தார் ..

அந்த சிறுவன் மெதுவாக பணத்தை எண்ணி சரிப்பார்தான் …
பிறகு அவன் தந்தையை பார்த்தான் …

தந்தை : "உனக்கு எதுக்கு இவ்வளவு பணம் ….

மகன் : "ஏன்னா தேவையான பணம் என் கிட்ட இல்ல …
இப்போ இருக்கு ….கேளுங்கப்பா இப்போ என்கிட்டே

இதை நீங்களே வச்சிக்கோங்க இப்போ நான் உங்களோட 1 மணிநேரத்தை வாங்கிக்கலாமா ?

ஒருவர் செய்யும் தானங்களும் அதற்கான பலன் களும்..

ஒருவர் செய்யும் தானங்களும் அதற்கான பலன்களும்..

மனிதன் உயிர் வாழ்வதற்கு ஆதாரமாக உள்ளது உணவு

அதன்பொருட்டு பிறர்க்கு தானம் செய்தலும்
அதன் பலன்களும்

தானத்தில் சிறந்தது அன்னதானம்.

அன்னம் இட்டவீடு சின்னம் கெட்டுப்போகாது.

பொன், பொருள் எவ்வளவு கொடுத்தாலும் மனம் திருப்தி கொள்வதில்லை

ஆனால் ஒருவன் வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டவாயால் போதுமென்று சொல்லி மனநிறைவோடு எழுவது சாப்பிடும்போது மட்டுமே தானம் செய்த குறுகிய நேரத்திலேயே பலனை தெரியப்படுத்துவது அன்னதானம்.

भारत को महान देश कहा जाता है लेकिन इस महान द ेश में आपको बेवकूफी के कुछ ऐसे उदहारण देखने क ो मिलेंगे जो दुनिया के किसी देश में नहीं हैं

भारत को महान देश कहा जाता है लेकिन इस महान देश में आपको बेवकूफी के कुछ ऐसे उदहारण देखने को मिलेंगे जो दुनिया के किसी देश में नहीं हैं…क्या कभी सुना है की किसी देश के लोग उन लोगों को सम्मान के साथ पुकारते हों जिन्होंने उनपर आक्रमण किया,उनकी बहु बेटियों का निर्ममता से बलात्कार किया और जबरन उनके पूर्वजों का धर्म परिवर्तन कराया..नहीं न लेकिन भारत में तो ये आम बात है

जी हाँ हम मुग़ल शासकों की ही बात कर रहे हैं

कौन थे मुग़ल??क्या किया था उन्होंने भारतवासियों के साथ??क्या वे सम्मान के लायक हैं??

दोस्तों इस से बड़ी बेशर्मी की बात नहीं हो सकती हमारे लिए की हम उन लोगों को सम्मान का दर्जा दें जिन्होंने न सिर्फ भारत की संस्कृति को नष्ट किया बल्कि असहनीय यातनाएं देकर हमारे पूर्वजों का जबरन धर्म परिवर्तन करवाया…

आखिर क्या कारण है की हमारे हिन्दू भाई इन मुग़लों को इतनी इज्ज़त देते हैं??इसमें सबसे मुख्य कारण है हमारे इतहास को तोड़ मरोड़ कर हमारे सामने पेश किया जाना.९९% हिन्दू ये समझते हैं की मुग़ल भी हमारे महान क्रांतिकारियों में से ही एक हैं लेकिन ये उन महान क्रांतिकारियों का अपमान है जो हम उनकी तुलना इन नीच अधर्मियों के साथ करें…जहां एक तरफ हमारे शूरवीरों ने अपने बलिदान से हमें इन क्रूर शासकों से आज़ादी दिलाई वहीँ इन मुगलों ने बाहर से आकर हमारे धर्म,हमारे मंदिर हमारी संस्कृति को इतना नुक्सान पहुंचाया की उसका परिणाम हम आज भी झेल रहे हैं.

दूसरा मुख्य कारण है हमारे देश की फिल्म इंडस्ट्री जिन्होंने “मुग़ल ऐ आज़म” और “टीपू सुलतान” नाम की फिल्मे बना कर बची खुची संस्कृति को भी नष्ट कर दिया…इन फिल्मों में उन्हें शूरवीर बताया गया जबकि सत्य इसके बिलकुल विपरीत है.

आज हालात ऐसे हैं की अगर किसीको सही इतहास पढ़ाने जाओ तो कहता है नहीं नहीं ये सब गलत है जो फिल्म में है वही सत्य है…इस कदर हमारे भोले भाले भारतवासियों के दिमाग इस जहर को भर दिया गया है…

मेरी आपसे केवल यही विनंती है की अगर आपके दिलों थोडा सा भी सम्मान महाराज शिवाजी और रानी लक्ष्मीबाई जैसे हमारे महान पूर्वजों के लिए बचा है तो आज से प्रतिज्ञा लें की इस जूठे इतहास को अब नहीं मानेगे..और न ही औरों को मानने देंगे.

ஹிந்துக்களே, மதச்சார்பற்ற ஊடகங்கள், நம் மத நம்பிக்கைகளுக்கு எதிரானவர்கள் ஆகியோரின ் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளுக்கும் தாக்குதலுக்கும் உள்ளாகும் குருமார்களுக்கு,எப்போதும் சந்தே கத்தின் பலனை அளியுங்கள் (Please give the benefit of doubt)

காவல்துறை புகார்களை பதிவு செய்தல்.இது வழக்கத்திற்கு நேர் மாறானது,எதிரானது.
4. நான்கு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பின்னர், ஒரு பெண்ணின் குற்றச்சாட்டினைத் தவிர அவர் மீதான எல்லாப் புகார்களும் கைவிடப்பட்டுவிட்டன. ஆரம்பத்தில் அவர் மீது சுமத்தப்பட்ட சட்ட விரோதமான நிதி முறைகேடு, நில அபகரிப்பு, மற்றுமுள்ள சட்டத்துக்கு மாறான நடவடிக்கைகள் தொடர்பான புகார்கள் எல்லாம் ஒவ்வொன்றாக கைவிடப்பட்டன.

6. ஆக நிலைமை இப்போது எப்படி இருக்கிறது. ஒரே ஒரு பெண் சுவாமி நித்யானந்தர் மீது குற்றச்சாட்டை சுமத்தி இருக்கிறார். ரஞ்சிதா மற்றும் அவரது வழக்குறைஞர் இருவரும் உச்ச நீதி மன்றத்தில் ஆஜராகி தாம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாக தவறாக கூறப்படுவதாகவும் இது சதி என்றும் மனுகொடுத்துள்ளார்.
7. குற்றம் சாட்டும் அந்த ஒரே பெண்மணியின் பின்புலம் ஒன்றும் இங்கேசொல்லிக் கொள்வது போல இல்லை. அவரைப் பற்றிய தகவல்களையும் நான் உறுதிப்படுத்திக் கொள்ளவில்லை. ஆகவே அதை இங்கே சொல்லாமல் விட்டு விடுகிறேன்.
8. வலுவான ஆதாரங்கள் இல்லாததால் யாரும் இந்த வழக்கை மேலும் தொடர வலியுறுத்தாததால் இந்த விடயம் கிடப்பில் போடப்பட்டது. சுவாமி நித்யானந்தரும் இதை அப்படியேவிட்டு தானாகவே மறைந்து போக விட்டிருக்கலாம். ஆனால் அவரது வழக்குறைஞர்கள் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் மனுசெய்ததின் மூலம் உறுதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுத்தார்கள். கர்னாடக உயர் நீதிமன்றம் குறித்த காலத்திற்குள் வழக்கினை தீர்க்கத் தவறிவிட்டது என்றும் எல்லா தவணைகளும் கடந்துவிட்டன என்றும் மனுவில் வாதிட்டார்கள்.வழக்கினை மேல்கோர்ட்டுக்கு கொண்டு சென்று வழக்கிலிருந்து முற்றிலும் விடுபடுவது சுவாமி நித்யானந்தரின் வழக்குறைஞர்களின் நோக்கமாக இருந்தது.
9. இந்த நடவடிக்கை சரியானது தானா?இல்லை அபாயகரமானதா என்பதைக்காலம் தான் சொல்லமுடியும்.இந்த வழக்கில் உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் மெத்தனப்போக்கினை உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் கண்டித்தது. மேலும் வழக்கினை விரைவாக விசாரித்து முடிக்கும்படி உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டது. அதனால் இந்தவழக்கு விசாரனை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் தற்போது தீவிரமடைந்துள்ளது.
10. கர்நாடக உயர் நீதிமன்றம், தான் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தின் முன்னால் திறமையற்றதாக வெட்கிதலைகுனிய வைக்கப்பட்டதற்கும் பழிவாங்கப்போகிறதா? இது மிகவும் ஆழமான, அவசரமான, ஆனால் நான்கு ஆண்டுகளாக முடங்கிக் கிடந்த வழக்கு என்பதாலும், பெரும்பாலான குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் கைவிடப்பட்டமையாலும்,தன்னுடைய முகத்தினை காப்பாற்றிக்கொள்வதற்காகக் காவல்துறை மேலும் கடுமையானதாக நடந்து கொள்ளப் போகிறதா? இது போன்ற வினாக்களுக்கெல்லாம் விடை சொல்வதற்கு என்னிடத்தில் வல்லமை இல்லை.
11. ஆனால் ஒன்றுமட்டும் உறுதி: ஒரு பக்க சார்பான சந்தர்ப்பவாதிகளான ஊடகங்கள் இதை பரபரப்பை மீண்டும் உண்டாக்கும் வாய்ப்பாகக் காண்கின்றன. இந்த துறையில் பணியாற்றும் ஊடகத்தார் மிதமான நுண்ணறிவும் குறைவான வைராக்கியமும் உள்ளவர்களாக இருந்தாலும் பரபரப்புக்காக இதனை பயன்படுத்த முயல்கின்றனர்.

முதலில் நாம் நமது போனில் இருந்து ”1800 108 4444” என்ற Toll Free நம்பருக்கு போன் செய்யவேண்டும். (இந்தியஎண்ணிலிருந்து). இதற்கு நமது போனில் பேலன்ஸ் இருக்க வேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை. அப்படியே பேலன்ஸ் இருந்தாலும் பணம் எடுக்கப்பட மாட்டாது.

நாம் இந்த நம்பருக்கு கால் செய்ததும் கால் தானாககட் ஆகிவிடும். கட்ஆன அடுத்த நொடியில் ”8067915000” என்ற எண்ணில் இருந்து நமது போனிற்கு (mobile) கால்வரும். அதை நாம் attend செய்து நாம் யாருக்கு போன் செய்ய வேண்டுமோ அவர்களது நம்பரை ( phone number) dial செய்து அவர்களுடன் இலவசமாக பேசிக்கொல்லாம்.

வித்தியாசமான சேவைாக இருக்கின்றதல்லவா ? ஆம் இந்த சேவையை கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம்தான் பெங்களுர் மாணவர்கள் ஆரம்பித்துள்ளார்கள்..

इन्दिरा एकादशी

युधिष्ठिर ने पूछा : हे मधुसूदन ! कृपा करके मुझे यह बताइये कि आश्विन के कृष्णपक्ष में कौन सी एकादशी होती है ?

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण बोले : राजन् ! आश्विन (गुजरात महाराष्ट्र के अनुसार भाद्रपद) के कृष्णपक्ष में ‘इन्दिरा’ नाम की एकादशी होती है । उसके व्रत के प्रभाव से बड़े-बड़े पापों का नाश हो जाता है । नीच योनि में पड़े हुए पितरों को भी यह एकादशी सदगति देनेवाली है ।

राजन् ! पूर्वकाल की बात है । सत्ययुग में इन्द्रसेन नाम से विख्यात एक राजकुमार थे, जो माहिष्मतीपुरी के राजा होकर धर्मपूर्वक प्रजा का पालन करते थे । उनका यश सब ओर फैल चुका था ।

राजा इन्द्रसेन भगवान विष्णु की भक्ति में तत्पर हो गोविन्द के मोक्षदायक नामों का जप करते हुए समय व्यतीत करते थे और विधिपूर्वक अध्यात्मतत्त्व के चिन्तन में संलग्न रहते थे । एक दिन राजा राजसभा में सुखपूर्वक बैठे हुए थे, इतने में ही देवर्षि नारद आकाश से उतरकर वहाँ आ पहुँचे । उन्हें आया हुआ देख राजा हाथ जोड़कर खड़े हो गये और विधिपूर्वक पूजन करके उन्हें आसन पर बिठाया । इसके बाद वे इस प्रकार बोले: ‘मुनिश्रेष्ठ ! आपकी कृपा से मेरी सर्वथा कुशल है । आज आपके दर्शन से मेरी सम्पूर्ण यज्ञ क्रियाएँ सफल हो गयीं । देवर्षे ! अपने आगमन का कारण बताकर मुझ पर कृपा करें ।

नारदजी ने कहा : नृपश्रेष्ठ ! सुनो । मेरी बात तुम्हें आश्चर्य में डालनेवाली है । मैं ब्रह्मलोक से यमलोक में गया था । वहाँ एक श्रेष्ठ आसन पर बैठा और यमराज ने भक्तिपूर्वक मेरी पूजा की । उस समय यमराज की सभा में मैंने तुम्हारे पिता को भी देखा था । वे व्रतभंग के दोष से वहाँ आये थे । राजन् ! उन्होंने तुमसे कहने के लिए एक सन्देश दिया है, उसे सुनो । उन्होंने कहा है: ‘बेटा ! मुझे ‘इन्दिरा एकादशी’ के व्रत का पुण्य देकर स्वर्ग में भेजो ।’ उनका यह सन्देश लेकर मैं तुम्हारे पास आया हूँ । राजन् ! अपने पिता को स्वर्गलोक की प्राप्ति कराने के लिए ‘इन्दिरा एकादशी’ का व्रत करो ।

राजा ने पूछा : भगवन् ! कृपा करके ‘इन्दिरा एकादशी’ का व्रत बताइये । किस पक्ष में, किस तिथि को और किस विधि से यह व्रत करना चाहिए ।

नारदजी ने कहा : राजेन्द्र ! सुनो । मैं तुम्हें इस व्रत की शुभकारक विधि बतलाता हूँ । आश्विन मास के कृष्णपक्ष में दशमी के उत्तम दिन को श्रद्धायुक्त चित्त से प्रतःकाल स्नान करो । फिर मध्याह्नकाल में स्नान करके एकाग्रचित्त हो एक समय भोजन करो तथा रात्रि में भूमि पर सोओ । रात्रि के अन्त में निर्मल प्रभात होने पर एकादशी के दिन दातुन करके मुँह धोओ । इसके बाद भक्तिभाव से निम्नांकित मंत्र पढ़ते हुए उपवास का नियम ग्रहण करो :

अघ स्थित्वा निराहारः सर्वभोगविवर्जितः ।
श्वो भोक्ष्ये पुण्डरीकाक्ष शरणं मे भवाच्युत ॥

‘कमलनयन भगवान नारायण ! आज मैं सब भोगों से अलग हो निराहार रहकर कल भोजन करुँगा । अच्युत ! आप मुझे शरण दें |’

इस प्रकार नियम करके मध्याह्नकाल में पितरों की प्रसन्नता के लिए शालग्राम शिला के सम्मुख विधिपूर्वक श्राद्ध करो तथा दक्षिणा से ब्राह्मणों का सत्कार करके उन्हें भोजन कराओ । पितरों को दिये हुए अन्नमय पिण्ड को सूँघकर गाय को खिला दो । फिर धूप और गन्ध आदि से भगवान ह्रषिकेश का पूजन करके रात्रि में उनके समीप जागरण करो । तत्पश्चात् सवेरा होने पर द्वादशी के दिन पुनः भक्तिपूर्वक श्रीहरि की पूजा करो । उसके बाद ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराकर भाई बन्धु, नाती और पुत्र आदि के साथ स्वयं मौन होकर भोजन करो ।

राजन् ! इस विधि से आलस्यरहित होकर यह व्रत करो । इससे तुम्हारे पितर भगवान विष्णु के वैकुण्ठधाम में चले जायेंगे ।

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं : राजन् ! राजा इन्द्रसेन से ऐसा कहकर देवर्षि नारद अन्तर्धान हो गये । राजा ने उनकी बतायी हुई विधि से अन्त: पुर की रानियों, पुत्रों और भृत्योंसहित उस उत्तम व्रत का अनुष्ठान किया ।
कुन्तीनन्दन ! व्रत पूर्ण होने पर आकाश से फूलों की वर्षा होने लगी । इन्द्रसेन के पिता गरुड़ पर आरुढ़ होकर श्रीविष्णुधाम को चले गये और राजर्षि इन्द्रसेन भी निष्कण्टक राज्य का उपभोग करके अपने पुत्र को राजसिंहासन पर बैठाकर स्वयं स्वर्गलोक को चले गये । इस प्रकार मैंने तुम्हारे सामने ‘इन्दिरा एकादशी’ व्रत के माहात्म्य का वर्णन किया है । इसको पढ़ने और सुनने से मनुष्य सब पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है ।

Tea Isn’t Just For Drinking, It Has Many Other Uses!

There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea, especially on a cold day. Not only does tea warm the body and give us inner peace, it also fights cancer, lowers the risk of stroke and helps our cells fight aging. However, if you thought that is where the usefulness of this drink ends, you are sorely mistaken…

1. Tired Eyes

Tired and red eyes can be caused by irritation, too much crying or simple tiredness. While ice badges or cucumber slices are a workable solution, tea bags get you the same results but are also warm and pleasant. Put them in hot water, allow them to cool a bit and then place them on the eyelids like a compress.

2. Improving the taste of meat

Meat tastes great when properly cooked, but when not, it can become stale, hard and dry. Here is an effective solution to the problem: Use used tea bags to make a marinade that will restore its flavor. Soaking hard meat in black tea can also soften it again.

3. Cleaning wood surfaces

Tea can be a great and gentle cleaning material for wood floors and surfaces. Wipe the wood surfaces or furniture with a clean cloth soaked in cool tea water, then use a clean and dry towel to prevent stains.

4. Removing fat and dirt

The astringency of the tea will reduce the fatty buildup in pots and pans. Just soak the used tea bag in the container you wish to clean.

5. Cleaning Rugs

Clean moldy and dirty rugs by spreading some used (dry) tea leaves on it. Leave them be for 10 minutes and then vacuum the rug. If these are delicate carpets, you can brush the tea leaves gently away.

6. Cleaning fatty fingerprints from glass

Tea can remove those pesky fingerprints from glass, and make it shine. Just rub a moist tea bag on the glass surface, then use a spray bottle filled with tea water and wipe.

Use tea to remove stubborn stains in the bottom of the toilet. Soak several bags of tea for several hours in the toilet water and then remove them gently and brush the sides.

8. Getting rid of fish smell

To get rid of that overpowering smell of fish, wash your hands in tea water.

Bags of tea can absorb those bad odors in the pantry, in your shoes or in your car. Put a few tea bags on a tray and put them in the closet, shoe or car. Let them absorb the odors.

If you suffer from stinky feet, soak them for 20 minutes in a tea bath. Use black tea for extreme caes. The stringency in the tea will close the sweat glands that give off the smell and that tanin will kill the bacteria.

Soak a tea bag in water and put it on the blister for 20-30 minutes. Make sure to throw away the bag afterwards.

12. Diminishing mouth ulcers.

Get your mouth wounds to heal faster by gently biting a used tea bag. The healing powers of the tea will reduce the pain, shring the blood vessels and stop the bleeding.

13. Treating burns

If you suffer from a really bad case of acne or irritated skin from a burn or sun tanning, use used tea bags to bring relief. Wash the areas burnt with a cold tea bag, but if most of the skin needs it, make a bath of tea water

Now that I have spent 4 months back in India, I have figured out clearly what it takes to become a famous surgeon here. I want to ensure that my younger brothers in the profession know this so that they don’t waste too much time doing things, I have been doing so far in my life, and can achieve “success” much earlier. Here are my top ten tips for any aspiring medical student or surgical trainee wanting to make it big in the professional world of surgery in India.

1. Never Have a Systematic Appointment System: Giving dedicated time slots to patients when they come on time and are attended to promptly are “Western” things. They do not work in India. First of all patient may not turn up (and not even bother to phone you), but even more importantly, even if they do, they will think you haven’t got enough work if your clinic is not full of people and you don’t make them wait for hours. My suggestion is not to have any appointment system, make sure patients have to wait for at least a couple of hours before you see them, and if possible, see two, three, even four patients at the same time in your “chamber”. If you don’t have that many patients, because not everyone in town is suffering with stomach cancer requiring your expertise, may be you bribe some local boys to create a crowd in your clinic. Learn something from how our politicians manage to attract crowd to their rallies!

2. Be Rude to Patients: It is a simple marketing trick that you let your customer know you exist but when you get them, you act pricey as that is the only way you are likely to get them to value you. Speaking to patients politely is a sign of weakness and any “famous” doctors should never have to indulge in this sort of behaviour. On the contrary, if you treat them with a little disrespect and show them how meaningless their “business” is to your practice, you are more likely to successfully woo them.

3. Never Give any Patient more than Five Minutes: Gone are the days, when patients valued a doctor who listened to them attentively, took time to examine them, and explained issues to them clearly. These days patients value doctors who act like “gods”. Does god ever explain to you why he is doing to you whatever he is doing? So, take a cue. Also, don’t ever spend any time examining patients. What are all these diagnostic tests for? Besides, the laboratory owner won’t fail to notice your “efforts” if you send some business their way. I have further found that any time educating patients is a total waste of time; you can’t turn them into doctors, can you?

4. Exaggerate Your Personal Wealth and Worth: If your patient finds out that your livelihood depends on him/her coming to you, they are likely to undervalue your efforts. Let us face it; patients come to you, not because you are good, but because you are rich and famous and can perform miracles. Also, who is the best person to enlighten them about these aspects of your life, if not you yourself? If you can’t tell them this personally, pay somebody else to do it for you. A third party recommendation always works! It is a time tested trick and worth the investment.

5. Never Tell Patients about Your Experience: Only a weak and insignificant surgeon would stoop down to the level of informing a patient about his or her experience. It’s none of their business anyway. If you are really proud of what you have done and feel like sharing your credentials with your patients, at least make sure you magnify them manifold. This is not because you want to lie to your patients but because your patient will automatically divide whatever number you give them by five to get closer to the truth and you don’t really want them to underestimate you, do you?

6. Exaggerate Claims Regarding Surgery: Remember your patient does not want a surgery that does not give 100% success and total cure. It does not matter if your surgery is really the best treatment available; what is more important is that your patient must think this to be the only option they have if they want to live, and without it, death would almost be inevitable.

7. Never Tell Patients about Risks of Surgery: So what if your surgery is the only chance patient has, if you tell them anything about complications, they will get confused! Do you really want to confuse a patient, who may decide against your life-saving surgery? Patients don’t want to know anything about complications of surgery and usually think it is a sign of weakness if a surgeon tells them that. My advice will be to completely stay away from making this sort of fatal error in your practice. Just ask them to sign on the dotted lines five minutes prior to the surgery.

8. Write Degrees on Your Letter Head that don’t Make any Sense: If you have been on a 3-day course, after which they give out degrees, go for it and mentions them outside your clinic, in your letter head, on your website, and anywhere else you can find. Most patients don’t know the difference between a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh who has slogged for 12 years after MBBS to get it and pays 250 pounds every year to the college to be able to use the title and “Fellow of Global Medical University” (of course it does not exist or if it does, I am not aware of it), the title you bought on the Internet for 5000 Rupees. Write as many of these abbreviations as you can on your visiting card; it goes a long way in convincing a patient about your credentials. And if you did go to a developed country for a 3-day conference or course, the name of that country should be everywhere around you. This is value addition by association. Patients will never find out what you did in UK anyway, so just mention the two letters if you can.

9. Organise Conferences and Meetings and Broadcast them: Make sure you network with some colleagues, preferably in some other city (so you are not competing with them), and invite each other to conferences and meetings. Take it from me, it really does not matter if you and your colleague have never written any academic article or even read one in last 5 years. What is more important is that you send free tickets to some distinguished speakers in US/UK to attract a bit of crowd and ask your friends in local media to cover the event.

10. Organise Training Courses: Your patient should know that not only are you a gifted surgeon but also a globally recognized teacher and trainer. If you think, you need to first learn it yourself and then teach it, forget it; it will be too late by then. Remember the old adage, “See one, do one, teach one”.

1. Hotel offers free meal to guests who are willing to generate electricity

The Crown Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen , Denmark , is offering a free meal to any guest who is able to produce electricity for the hotel on an exercise bike attached to a generator. Guests will have to produce at least 10 watt hours of electricity – roughly 15 minutes of cycling for someone of average fitness. They will then be given meal vouchers worth $36 (26 euros).

2. Disco pub gets electricity produced by people dancing at specially modified dance floor

All the flashing strobes and pounding speakers at the dance club are massive consumers of electrical power. So Bar Surya, in London, re-outfitted its floor with springs that, when compressed by dancers, could produce electrical current that would be stored in batteries and used to offset some of the club’s electrical burden. The club’s owner, Andrew Charalambous, said the dance floor can now power 60 percent of the club’s energy needs.

3. Company creates a desktop printer that doesn’t use ink nor paper

Who says printers only use paper to print documents? It’s time for you to meet the PrePeat Printer then. Different from conventional printers, PrePeat adopts a thermal head to print on specially-made plastic sheets. These plastic sheets are not merely water-proof, but could be easily erased, just feed the sheets through the printer again, and a different temperature will erase everything or just write over it. This 5-story facility sweeps a wooded corner of the campus with an organic, vegetated form that blends landscape and structure, nature and high-tech and symbolizes the creativity it houses. The roofs serve as informal gathering spaces challenging linear ideas and stirring perception. The roofs create open space, insulate the building, cool the surrounding air and harvest rainwater for landscaping irrigation. Planted grasses mix with native greenery to colonize the building and bond it to the setting.

Made of polished stained concrete, the Zen Garden Sink has a channel that allows the water used while washing your hands to water a plant. Created by young Montreal designer Jean-Michel Gauvreau the sink comes in single or double basin model. The sink is designed in a way you won’t get your plants all soapy. There is a main drain at the bottom of the basin for soapy grime. Your little plant friend just gets whatever you choose to dole out.

Teaching the importance of energy conservation is the goal of this design from Tim Holley. He calls it Tio, and it’s a ghost-shaped light switch that gives kids a visual reminder of how much energy they’ve used by leaving lights on. Tio starts out green and smiling. If the light is left on for more than four hours, he turns yellow and looks shocked. And if you dare to leave that light on for more than eight hours, sweet little Tio turns into a raging red hulk, complete with frowny mouth and angry eyes. But he won’t just visually remind your kids about their energy habits; information from the light switch is sent to Tio’s computer program so the entire family can see how they’re doing. Tiruvidaimarudoor, near Kumbakonam in Tanjore district is famous for a Siva Temple, Sri Maha Linga Swami.

Many years ago, on a Chitra Pournima day, an Abhishegam for Sri Maha Linga swami was performed with the chanting of Rudra Japa. It was a grand success. With 11 Vedic Pundits, it started at 8amand finished by1pm. Sri Narayanaswami Iyer, the head of the village (Mirasudar), an ardent Maha Periyava devotee, organised the whole event.

Very eager to offer the Rudra-Prasad to Maha Periyava, Sri Narayanaswami Iyer reached Kanchi the very next day. He had packed the Prasad in a plantain-leaf covered with a new silk shawl.

At Kanchi, after finishing the daily Puja, Sri Maha Periyava was giving dharshan. A lot of people were waiting for the dharshan. When his turn came, Sri Narayanaswami Iyer was shivering and lost his voice. He did a sashtanga namaskaram. Maha Periyava looked at him and raised his brows, meaning “Whats the news?”

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer opened his prasad packet, kept it in a plate and offered it to Maha Periyava – still shivering in reverence. The Prasad offering had vibhuthi, Kumkum, chandan, vilva leaves, 2 half
coconuts, and bananas.

Maha Periyava: “This prasad is from which Kshetram?”

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer: “ Periyava, I organized a Rudra abhishegam yesterday in Tiruvidaimarudoor for Maha Linga Swami. I brought this Prasad for Periyava from there. I am offering it for Periyava’s anugraham”.

MahaPeriyava was looking at that plate containing the Prasad. And then asked him: “Narayanaswami, you are a rich man; still did you share the expense with someone else for this Abhishegam?”

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer: “No Periyava…I bore all the expenses myself”. Maha Periyava was smiling after hearing the emphasis on “I, myself”.

Maha Periyava: “You performed this abhishegam for Loka Kshemam?”

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer: “No Periyava…for the last 2 or 3 years we are not getting good harvest from the fields…..some lands have not yielded anything…..Muthu Josiyar asked me to conduct a Rudra Abhisegam on
Chitra Pournima day for the best yields….I did that after believing him, Periyava”

The Acharya still has not accepted the Prasad. “ This means that you did not do it for aathmaartham or Loka Kshemam….!”, saying this, Maha Periyava closed his eyes and meditated for 15 minutes. When He opened
His eyes, one could understand that he was very clear as to what had happened.

Maha Periyava: “Ok. How many Brahmmanals were there?”

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer: “Eleven Pundits were there, Periyava”

“ Who are they, you only organised them, right? From which place are they ?” this was Maha Periyava.

By now the devotees around were wondering why Sri MahaPeriyava was so inquisitive. Sri Narayanaswami Iyer took out a paper and read out the names. "…….Tiruvidaimarudoor Venkatrama Sastrigal, Srinivasa
Ganapadigal, Rajagopala Swouthigal…..” MahaPeriyava intervened, “ Oh… all of them are great Vedic Pundits….just see in your list, if you have Thepperumanallur Venkatesa Ganapadigal”.

Sri Narayanaswami Iyer was very happy to find that name in his list. He exploded: “yes, yes, Periyava, he was there yesterday….”

Mahaperiyava : “besh….besh…..Venkatesa Ganapadigal was also there…Very good. He is a great Vedic Pundit! He is getting very old now. Nowadays he chants Rudra Japam with great difficulty.”

As if he got the point, Sri Narayanaswami Iyer immediately said: “ You are very correct, Periyava. He did not do the Rudra Japam properly. Most of the times he was sitting with his eyes closed without chanting…..and the number of Japams got reduced because of that……I was wondering why I invited him”.

Maha Periyava got annoyed with Sri Narayanaswami Iyer. “Just because you have money, you cannot assume you can say anything! Do you know the qualification of Thepperumanallur Venkatesa Ganapadigal? You are
not even comparable to the dust in his feet. How can you say that about him?

Now I understand what happened yesterday. Now you answer me. When he was sitting with his eyes closed, did you not go to him and shout at him saying ‘For the money you are getting, why is your mouth keeping
shut?’

There was absolute silence there. The devotees were stunned. Narayanaswami Iyer, who was at ease a minute ago, started shivering again, fell down on his knees, got up, closed his mouth with his palm and with tears in eyes said, “I was wrong, Priyava…please, please forgive me. To Ganapadigal, I said exactly what you just now
described. Please forgive me”

“Wait, that is not it. There is more. Did you give dhakshina to every Pundit? How much did you give?” – Maha Periyava.

“ I gave ten rupees to each of them” – NI, with great difficulty.

“ I know everything….tell me again. Did you give ten rupees to everyone?” – Maha Periyava.

Narayanaswami Iyer was quiet. But Maha Periyava did not leave him. “You are ashamed to tell me. I will tell you what happened. You offered the ten rupee sambhavana to each Pundit. When you came near the
Thepperumanallur Ganapadigal, you reduced the sambhavana to seven rupees since you thought he did not do the Japams continuously. You felt vindicated by this! And you were happy! But the Ganapadigal did
not care. He smiled at you and took it……Tell me all this is true?”

The devotees did not know how Maha Periyava knew all this. Narayanaswami Iyer was stunned and silent. He repeatedly pleaded guilty and said he would never ever do such things in future.

While Narayanaswamy Iyer was feeling ashamed and was pleading guilty, Maha Periyava did not stop there.

“Wait…I would have been happy if it ended here. Did you organise lunch for all of them at Ramachandra Iyer’s house?”

“Yes, Yes, Periyava” – NI.

“ You served very well……the Chakra Pongal was like Amrut, made with a lot of cashews and raisins; overflowing with ghee… was served personally by you. Right?” – Maha Periyava.

“ Yes Periyava, I served the Chakra Pongal myself” – Narayanaswami Iyer was pleased to say this.

“While serving, did you do it with clear conscience and follow the proper etiquette and decorum? “ – Maha Periyava.

No response from Narayanaswami Iyer. “OK. I will tell you. Since it tasted very good, all the Pundits enjoyed it and asked for more Chakra Pongal. You also served them more and more. But when you saw Thepperumanallur Ganapadigal asking for more, not once but many times, you pretended as if you did not even hear him! So many times he asked for more! Yet, not once did you respond. Is this dharma? You cheated him off….You played so dirty. You deceived him, you betrayed him, you insulted him!”. Acharya looked very upset and sad.

Narayanaswami Iyer was standing there, fully ashamed of himself. Maha Periyava changed his position and sat straight as if Lord Parameshwara was sitting there. After 15 minutes of silence and meditation, Maha
Periyava opened His eyes. “Mirasudarvaal, you must understand one thing. The Ganapadigal is now 81. He has been chanting Rudra Japam from the age of 16 at many Siva temples. Sri Rudram is embodied in
every nerve of his, and runs in his breadth and his blood. He is such a Maha Purush. What you displayed was absolute sin. Nothing but sin”. Maha periyava could not talk any more.

Maha Periyava continued: “The insult you heaped on him affected him thoroughly. Do you know what he did? He did not go back to his village. Yesterday evening he went straight to Maha Linga Swami temple. After three pradhakshinas, he stood in front of the Swami and do you know what he prayed for?”

Maha Periyava had difficulty talking. He continued after some time…”with tears rolling down his cheeks, ‘Appa Jothi Maha Lingam! You know I am your ardent devotee. You have heard my Rudra Japams so may
times in your Sannidhi, from my young years. I am now 81. Am very strong at heart, but the strength in my voice has diminished. You are well aware of what happened during lunch today. That Chakra Pongal….
was so tasty…. And leaving aside my shame, I was pleading for some more….so many times. That Mirasudaar just pretended as if he did not hear me and went away. You know I like Chakra Pongal so much….I felt
so bad that he did not serve me more in spite of my pleading. But later on, I realised that I should not have that kind of attachment to a mere dish. That’s why I am standing in front of you. When people go to Kasi, they give up a vegetable and a fruit. You are the same Lingam in Kasi as well. That’s why I am promising you that from this minute on, till my jeevan leaves this body, I am giving up not just Chakra Pongal, but any sweet dish. I will not touch. Maha Lingam, this is my promise… I am taking leave of you’. So saying, with more tears from
his eyes, the Ganapadigal left for his village. Now you tell me, Narayanaswamy Iyarvaal, was it not a sin you committed? Will Maha Linga Swami accept your actions?”

Maha Periyava stopped here. It was 3pm. He refused the Biksha for the day. No one left that place. Tears in everyone’s eyes.

Narayanaswami Iyer fell on Maha Periyava’s feet. He was sobbing, uncontrollably. Unable to speak, but still managed to say, “Periyava, I feel very very ashamed. I made a big mistake. I will never do this
mistake in my life. Please pardon me. Please, Periyava. Please tell me that you forgive me….Please take this Maha Linga Prasad and pardon me. Please Periyava”. Even then Maha Periyavaa didn’t touch the Prasadams
brought by Narayanaswami Iyer but firmly said “Wait for a while, that Maha Linga Swami himself will give me
anugraham for Prasadam”.

Just then a Pundit aged around 65, looking fresh with rudraksha around his neck holding a plate arrived there. He told Maha Periyava: “My name is Maha Lingam. I am the Archagar in Tiruvidaimarudoor temple.
The Pundit continued: “Yesterday there was a Rudra Abhishegam for Maha Linga Swami. I came to offer the Prasad to Periyava and take His blessings”.

When he was going to do Namaskaram, Maha Periyava stopped him saying “those who got Siva Dheeksha should not do Namaskaram to me”. MahaPeriyava took the Prasadam and offered Matam’s ‘return gift’ –
prasad.

By then the Archagar saw Narayanaswami Iyer and said, “Periyava, he is Narayanaswamy Iyer. He was the one who organised the Abhishegam yesterday.” Then the Archagar took leave from Maha Periyava and left.

Narayanaswami Iyer told Maha Periyava repeatedly that he made a big mistake and asked for Prayaschittam- ‘how can I wash this sin?’

Acharyal got up and said, “I cannot tell you the Prayaschittam for this. Only Thepperumanallur Venkatesa Ganapadigal can tell you”. “But will he tell me, after whatever I did?” asked Narayanaswami Iyer. In a
loud voice, Maha Periyava said: “If you have the Praaptham he will tell you”. So saying, He went inside to His room.

Maha Periyava did not come out for long. Narayanaswami Iyer now decided to meet the Ganapadigal. He took a bus and reached Thepperumanallur next day. He wanted to plead for pardon from the Ganapadigal, get his blessings and then only go back to his place. When he reached the Ganapadigal’s house, he saw a lot of people
there………the Ganapadigal left for his heavenly abode early that morning!

What Maha Periyava said hit his head: “ If you have the Praaptham, he will tell you”.

He said to himself, “Maha Periyava knew I did not have the Praaptham – what a big sinner am I”.

However, he did Namaskaram to the Ganapadigal’s body and left back to his village.

Later on, Sri Narayanaswamy Iyer did a lot of service for the Mutts in the North and obtained Mukhti in Kasi.

Funeral rites of the Hindus
The last sacrament in the life of a person is Funeral with which he closes the concluding chapter of worldly career. The way one grieves, commemorates, and disposes the dead varies greatly from culture to culture…Hindus burn (Except some groups in Hindu who bury the dead ones),Christians Muslims bury and Buddhists some people bury and some people burn. However, the only common belief at this point is that the survivors need to consecrate the death for the deceased’s future felicity in the next world. Hinduism is unique among the world’s major religions in mandating cremation as one of the 16 life rituals. Let’s explore, why……?

The significance of Antim-Sanskara
This Samskara, being post-mortem, is not less important, because for a Hindu the value of the next world is higher than that of the present one. The Baudhayana Pitrmedha-Sutras say, ‘It is well-known that through the Samskaras after the birth one conquers this earth; through the Samskaras after the death the heaven". Therefore the ritualists are very anxious to have the funerals performed with meticulous care.

A mention in Mahabharata
‘What is the greatest wonder?’ Lord Yamraj asks in the Mahabharata. Yudhisthir replies, ‘Day after day countless people die. Yet the living wish to live forever.’ Death has been an enigma from time immemorial. The human mind refuses to accept its utter finality. All civilizations and religions believe that somehow, the ‘individual’ keeps living, goes somewhere else, or will eventually ‘rise’ and reach heaven or hell. Hindus believe both in ‘life’ after death and in reincarnation.

Hinduism and Cremation
Hindus believe in the soul being indestructible; and that death symbolises end of the existence of a person’s physical being, but the start of a new journey for the soul. This soul then reincarnates in some other life form, and passes through the same cycle of taking birth, growing and eventually meeting death- only to begin the cycle afresh. Cremation of a person’s dead body is therefore, supposed to rid the departed soul of any attachments to the body it previously resided in.

Surrendering to the Holy fire
Fire is considered holy in Hinduism. It burns away everything until nothing remains. On the other hand, burying is a very slow process of dissolving the five elements inside the body back into the five elements of the cosmos. By cremating the body, the physical remnants of the ghost are entirely wiped out from the face of earth, so that the ghost may continue with its journey forward after the 11 days.

Agni, consume not this body to cinders neither give it pain nor scatter about its skin or limbs. When the body is fairly burnt, convey the spirit to the ancestors. May the five elements be merged with their basic forms. – Vedic hymn to Agni. Since Agni, the god of fire is seen as a link between the gross and subtle, matter and spirit, the seen and unseen, the known and unknown and a messenger between men and gods, dead bodies were disposed by cremation.

Thus, the dead body is an offering to Agni with an earnest prayer to purify and lead the individual to a better and brighter life. Another reason for preferring cremation is to produce a feeling of detachment in the freshly disembodied subtle body and to encourage it to pass on, rather than hover around loved ones. Moreover, Hindus, out of respect for the dead, did not want to leave the bodies around to be consumed by vultures and other animals.

Releasing the spirit
Hindus cremate their dead, believing that the burning of a dead body signifies the release of the spirit and that the flames represent Brahma, the creator. In addition, burial sites utilize large areas of arable land. Earlier, digging a grave was laborious and required special implements compared to cremation which was easier, quicker and cheaper because everyone who came would bring along some wood for the fire.

Exceptions to cremation

The exceptions to cremation are saints, holy men, pregnant women and children. Since saints are supposed to have attained a high degree of detachment from the body, they do not need to be cremated – they are buried in the lotus position. For children too, the attachment to the body is much less. Also, according to custom, an offspring is required to light the funeral pyre, and both categories would normally not have any.

Children are not grown so their funeral must differ from that of the adult. Their tender body should be spared the fierce flames; their innocent life neither inflicts so much impurity nor does it require so much purification. The next special rite is that of a Garbhini or a pregnant woman who dies in her pregnancy. Baudhayana says that she should be carried to the cremation ground but after saving the child. In case, the child could not be saved, she should be floated or buried.

Burial versus Cremation
In ancient Egypt, the physical body was preserved through an elaborate process of mummification, as it was believed that, without a home, the soul wandered around to be lost forever. Similarly, Chinese emperors were buried with replicas of objects called grave goods. Again the belief was that on death, the person enters an ‘after life.’ All the daily comforts of their past life such as servants, attendants, objects, pets, wives, guardians, concubines, food and drink were buried along with the emperor.

Among the ancient Greeks and Romans, both cremation and burial were practiced. Christianity and Judaism discourage cremation and Islam prohibits it. Lately, more Christians are becoming open to the idea of cremation, but the Eastern Orthodox churches still forbid it. Many Liberal and Reform Jews support cremation as an option. The Roman Catholic Church’s discouragement of cremation stems from the idea that the body is holy and should be treated with honour and respect. Moreover cremation constituted a denial of the resurrection of the body.

Burial as opposed to cremation, apparently, seems to be a ‘neater’ and ‘nicer’ way of disposal. However, since the whole dreadful process of gradual decomposition and decay of the body is not seen, cremation is, in actual fact, a ‘kinder’ method. Moreover, it is definitely preferable for environmental reasons. Since a traditional burial consumes nearly one tree, Hindus are enjoined to plant three trees, on special occasions, during their life span.

Islamic belief

According to Islamic belief, Allah will resurrect all dead from the graves on judgment day and send them to heaven. If they cremate the body then there will be no body to resurrect. They consider body belongs to god and burning it is disrespectful. Geographical conditions may also be responsible for this difference in opinion as Islam is originated in region (desert) where cremating cannot be followed because of lack wood (main requirement of creating fire)!

The logic behind the ritual
A Human Being does not always die from old-age, he may die due to diseases. If he is burnt, the micro-organisms in his body will die (no pathogen survives at the temperature of fire). Thus, burning of a body after a person is dead ensures that you are not committing murder, and also you are preventing it from being a source of spread of any disease.

Being a part of the Five Tatvas

Also, a traditional belief among Hindus says that a person’s body is composed of 5 elements- earth, fire, water, air and sky. The cremation ceremonies of Hindus are directed towards returning the body to these elements. The body is progressively returned to earth, air, sky and fire by burning it under skies; and the ashes are respectfully collected and poured in a river.

The concept of restrictive mourning
It is said that excessive mourning over a deceased prevents the soul from being completely detached from its loved ones, and keeps it from undertaking its new journey- that of taking up a new life. Cremation (and subsequent ceremonies in mourning) help to remove most of those things that can act as a reminder for the person’s existence, and thereby also assist the family in getting over the loss.

To be cremated near Ganga
It is the ultimate wish of a Hindu to die and be cremated along a riverbank; the holier the river the better for the departed soul. Many Hindu holy shrines are built along famous riverbanks. Banaras, situated along the holy river Ganges, is the holiest of them all, considered so holy that every Hindu wishes to die there. Indeed, this desire is so irrepressible that some pious Hindus make provisions to move to Banaras at an old age for the sole purpose of uniting with God.

INGREDIENTS
8 medium shaped baby cauliflowers 4 black peppercorns 2 big cardamoms and 4 small cardamoms 3 cloves 1 bay leaf 2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 50 gms chopped cashew 100ml mint chutney 150 gms cornflour ½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain) 1 teaspoon red chili powder Bengal gram-flour (Besan) Salt (according to taste)
COOKING DIRECTIONS
Cut cauliflowers into florets carefully and wash them with water. Steam cauliflower florets in boiled water adding a little salt, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder until it is half cooked. Drain the excess water from the steamed cauliflower completely. Mix mint chutney and cashew in a bowl and push the stuffing inside the nooks of florets so that it is well coated. Mix bengal gram-flour (besan), cornflour, ginger-garlic paste, carom seeds, salt and red chili powder well in a separate bowl. Keep the mixture aside for 1 hour. Heat oil in a pan and fry the cauliflower until it turns golden brown. Place the florets on skewer carefully and grill till in tandoor till it turns crispy.

பல இடங்களுக்குச் சென்று பலவிதமான உடல்-மன பயிற்சிகளைச் செய்தவர்கள் யோகாவை அனுபவித்த பிறகு சொன்னது அது.

உடல், மூச்சு, உள்ளம், ஆளுமை, மனம் என்று பல தளங்களில் யோகா வேலை செய்யும்போது கிடைக்கும் அனுபவம் வியப்பாகத்தான் இருக்கும்.

பல நேரம் அது மாயமாகச் செயல்படுவதாகச் சொல்லப்படுவதைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறேன். அதற்குக் காரணம், பல நிலைகளில் அது வேலை செய்து, முழுமையாய்த் தரும் பலன்கள் பேரானந்தத்தைப் போன்றவை.

உடற்பயிற்சியும் யோகாவும்

நம் நாட்டைப் பொறுத்தவரை தினமும் உடற்பயிற்சி செய்பவர்கள் குறைவு. உடலுக்கு எந்த விதமான பயிற்சியையும் தராததால் தசைகள் இறுகிப் போயிருக்கும். பிடிப்பு அதிகம் இருக்கும். பல வலிகள் இருக்கும், இதனால் மூச்சின் (உள்-வெளி) அளவு பெரும்பாலும் குறைவாகவே இருக்கும்.

ஆகவே, மனம் ஒரு நிலையில் இருக்காது, ஆடி ஓடி விளையாடும். ஒரே நேரத்தில் பல எண்ணங்கள் மனதில் சுழலும். அவை கன்னாபின்னாவென்று அலைபாய்ந்து இடையூறாக மாறி எரிச்சல், கோபம், மன அழுத்தத்துக்குத் தாராள இடம் தரப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

இதனால், பல உறுப்புகள் சரிவர வேலை செய்யாது. உறக்கம் சரியாக இருக்காது, செரிமானம் சரியாக இருக்காது, அமைதியை உணர முடியாது.

அதனால் தேவைப்படும் சக்தி இருக்காது, எண்ணங்கள் ஆரோக்கியம் குறைந்து, எடுக்கும் முடிவுகளில் தடுமாற்றங்கள் இருக்கும். மகிழ்ச்சி குறைவாக இருக்கும்.

இதனால் குடி, புகைப் பழக்கம் முதலானவை இருக்கலாம். சிலர் கடும் எரிச்சல்காரராக மாறியிருப்பார்கள். சந்தேகமும் அவநம்பிக்கையும் கூடும்.

இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களின் நட்பு வட்டம், தினசரிப் பழக்கவழக்கம் எப்படி இருக்கும்? எண்ணங்கள் எப்படி இருக்கும்? தங்கள் மீது நேசிப்பும் மதிப்பும் இருக்குமா? அப்படியென்றால் பிறர் மீது?

என்ன கிடைக்கும்?

ஒருவர் சுயமாக தன்னைச் சரியான முறையில் கவனித்துக்கொள்ளவில்லை எனில், எது வேண்டுமானாலும் நிகழலாம். இது ஒரு நாளில், ஒரு மாதத்தில் நடப்பதில்லை. மாதக் கணக்கில், ஆண்டுக்கணக்கில் வளரும் பழக்கம்.

உடற்பயிற்சியே செய்யாதவர்கள் நடைப்பயிற்சி செய்யும்போது அவர்களின் உடல் அசைவினால் ரத்த ஓட்டம் சீராகும், மூட்டுகள் நெகிழ்வுத்தன்மை பெறும், இதயம் நன்கு வேலை செய்யும், புத்துணர்ச்சி கிடைக்கும் என்று சொல்லலாம்.

அதே மாதிரி ஜிம் போகிறவர்கள் பெரும்பாலும் உடலை வலிமையாக்கப் போகிறார்கள். எடையைக் குறைக்கப் போகிறார்கள். கராத்தேயால் உடலுக்கு வலிமை, மனதுக்கு வலிமை கிடைக்கும். இப்படிப் பலவற்றையும் சொல்லலாம். ஆனால், இவற்றைத் தொடர்ந்து செய்து வாழ்க்கையில் மாறியவர்கள் மிகவும் குறைவு.

இந்தப் பயிற்சிகள் உடல் அளவில் செய்கிற மாற்றங்கள் தான் கூடுதல். மனதளவில் தேவையான மாற்றங்கள் நடப்பதில்லை. அதனால் அதுவே ஒரு பழக்கமாகி, இயந்திரத்தனமாக மாறிவிடுகிறது. பலன்களும் குறைந்துவிடுகின்றன. யோகாவையும் அவ்வாறு செய்தால், பெரிய பலன் இருக்காது. மனதை அலையவிட்டு, உடற்பயிற்சி போல் அதையும் மாற்றிவிட்டால் என்ன பலன் தேறும்?

ஆசிரியரின் பங்கு

மூச்சு குறித்த கவனத்தோடு ஒவ்வொரு ஆசனத்தையும் செய்வதே சிறந்த முறை. ஆசனத்துடன் மூச்சுப் பயிற்சி இல்லாமல் இருப்பதால், மனம் பெரும்பாலும் பயிற்சியின் மீது கவனமாக இருப்பதில்லை.

கடினமான ஆசனங்களை முதலில் செய்ய ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது மனம் பயிற்சியுடன் இருக்கும், அதுவே நீண்ட நாட்கள் செய்யும்போது, நன்கு பழகிப்போகும்போது, மனம் வெளியில் பறந்துவிடுகிறது.

யோகாவை எடுத்துச் செல்லும் ஆசிரியர்கள், இதில் மிக முக்கியப் பங்காற்றுகிறார்கள்.

பயிற்சி செய்பவர்களின் இயல்பு, எண்ணங்கள், பயிற்சி, ஈடுபாடு, யோகாவைப் பற்றிய புரிதல், அறிவு முதலானவை நிறைவாக அமையும்போது, அந்த யோகா வகுப்பு மிகச் சிறப்பாக – பலன் தருவதாக அமையும்.

ஆகவே ஒரு யோக முறையை, ஒரு யோகா ஆசிரியரை உங்களுக்கு ஏற்ப நீங்கள் தேட வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு முயற்சி எடுக்கும்போது, யோகாவின் பல அணுகுமுறைகளை நீங்கள் தெரிந்துகொள்வீர்கள்.

பயிற்சி எதுவரை?

பயிற்சியைச் செய்கிறபோது, மகிழ்ச்சியாய்ச் செய்யுங்கள். ஈடுபாட்டுடன் செய்யுங்கள். வீடு-அலுவலகம் போன்ற சுய விஷயங்களை மனதுக்குள் இருத்தாமல் செய்யுங்கள்.

நிகழ்காலத்தில் இருந்து செய்யுங்கள். புரிந்து, உணர்ந்து செய்யுங்கள். பலன்கள் தேடிவரும்.

பலன்கள் கிடைத்ததும் சிலர் பயிற்சியை நிறுத்திவிடுவார்கள். ஏனென்றால், சிறுசிறு பலன்களைப் பெறவே அவர்கள் யோகாவுக்கு வந்திருப்பார்கள்.

உடல் வலி, ஆஸ்துமா, மூச்சு பிரச்சினை, தூக்கம் இன்மை, வயிறு சரியில்லை, முட்டி வலி, மனம் ஒரு நிலைப்படவில்லை, மனஅழுத்தம், வயிறு பெருத்துத் தொலைத்துவிட்டது… என்று. அந்தப் பிரச்சினை சரியானதும், வர மாட்டார்கள். பிறகு வேறு பிரச்சினை வரும்போது, திரும்பவும் வருவார்கள்.

யோகா செய்யத் தொடங்கிய ஒரு சில நாட்களில் மனம் அமைதியடையும், எண்ணங்கள் சீர்படும். ஆகவே எரிச்சல் குறையும், தூக்கம் சுகமாகும், நாள் முழுதும் சக்தி கிடைக்கும், மகிழ்ச்சி அதிகமாகும்.

நாள்தோறும் பயிற்சியைத் தொடங்கும்போது அவர்களுக்குள் அமைதி ஏற்படும். விஷயங்களை அழகாக, சரியாக யோசிக்க அந்த அமைதி துணை செய்யும்.

மெல்ல மெல்ல நீண்ட நாள் உடல் இறுக்கம் குறையக்கூடிய, மூச்சுப் பயிற்சி தரமானதாக-கவனமானதாக மாறமாற மகிழ்ச்சி கூடும். உடல் கனத்து இருந்ததிலிருந்து இலகுவானதாக மாறும். செரிமானம் நன்றாக இருக்கும். உள் உறுப்புகள் நன்கு வேலை செய்யும்.
