There was a boy who used to be a servant for a rich family. They provided him accommodation, food and everyday some money for tea or snacks. This boy after finishing his morning works used to go to tea stall nearby and spend sometime drinking tea, eating and talking to regular customers. One day he was out to tea stall as usual. There was one beggar newly arrived and stayed put near tea stall. This boy found some kind of attraction towards this beggar. May be sympathy? He bought a tea and some snacks for the beggar and sat near him talking. While leaving he gave beggar whatever money left with him.

This became a routine and continued for sometime. On the other hand, beggar’s regular collections started reducing because people now used to him. But he didn’t want to move to other place for better income for the beggar felt somewhat attached to the servant boy. Sometimes all the beggar’s collection for whole day was what the boy gave to him. The beggar didn’t like to move out of their meeting place. One day the boy didn’t appear as usual. Beggar got worried but thought he might have some work to finish. Next day also the boy was not seen. Thus gone ten days. By now beggar concluded that the boy might have either gone to his native or found a new job. But beggar was more worried for the boy didn’t inform him about these. So he finally decided to move to a better place next morning. That night, somebody disturbed beggar’s sleep. When he woke up, he saw the boy sitting near to him and crying. Boy was looking tired. He was locked up inside the house where he worked as servant. He was not given food to eat and allowed to go out for the rich man suspected the boy to stole the necklace of his wife.
Later after ten days of torture, when they found necklace, they thrown him out of their house. It was not boy stole the necklace but the rich man’s wife forgotten where she kept. Though mistake was of rich women, the boy was thrown out of house where he served sincerely for many years! Beggar listened to the story patiently. The boy was crying for he still couldn’t understand why he was thrown out. Beggar was too matured to get emotional like the boy. For him, these are common and already witnessed things. He advised the boy not to worry and he promised to take the boy with him next morning. Next day beggar took the boy with him and fed him stomachful. After finishing the breakfast, they left for a new place searching for a new experience. Later it’s heard that, the boy found a new house to serve. The beggar fixed a place in near area to take care of the boy.

Morals of the story:

1. The boy didn’t expect anything in return when given to beggar. All he had was sympathy towards the beggar.

2. Rich family treated boy very well for they want a good faithful servant. But when something went missing the faithful servant became the first suspect. For rich, it’s easy to suspect and target poor.

3. When the rich man found his wife to be blamed for missing necklace, he didn’t care to punish her or seek pardon from the boy. Instead he thrown the boy out of his house.

4. The boy was careless and spent all money he got for he was not matured to understand – the situations can’t be same always. He thought his life will be same always.

5. Even while boy spent money, he spent it for a good cause which came to his rescue when he was in need. Even savings wouldn’t have instantly helped as the beggar did.

6. Beggar was faithful for the hands that fed him. When got a chance he was happy to pay it back.

7. Life is a long journey. We don’t know who will support us when in need. So treating everyone nicely is important saving for future.

8. Who to give and whom to give, who to connect with whom all decided by previous births. The boy was particularly attracted by this beggar shows some kind of past connection between them. So to fight or to embrace someone is what decided by us through our karma.

9. Also the people we meet, we love, we like, we hate, we fight, we depend are sort of steps towards our journey.

    Google+“”
There lived a Sadhu who regularly used to give discourses. One day at the end of the discourse he was talking of being grateful to existence. “Operate from a space of gratitude, `Kritajna’. This will allow us to expand.” a beggar was sitting in a corner and listening to the discourse, he came up to the Sadhu and said, “Maharaj, your talk was great. But one thing I am not able to do. You said to be grateful to the existence because it has always showered benediction on you. Sorry! But, existence has not given me anything. I am struggling even for one roti”.

The Sadhu said, “ I agree with you, I will give you two lacks, right here, will you be grateful?’ The beggar was thrilled.

“But I want something in return from you”, said the Sadhu. “I do not have anything, what can I give you? If I have something I will definitely give you.” said the beggar.

“I won’t ask you anything that you do not have”, said the Sadhu. The agreement was made. The Sadhu said, “I will make arrangements for the two lacks; you please give me both your eyes.”

The beggar was astonished. “What will I do with these two lacks without my eyes! I don’t agree to the deal,” he said. “I prefer my two eyes to the two lacks”.

The Sadhu said, “but you said you don’t have anything and were cursing existence.’

This is a beautiful story. Two eyes he had, then two hands, two legs, stomach etc., He is already a multi millionaire. But all these gifts we do not see. For the beggar, money was very important. That we can see is such a great gift of existence. We can hear. We can walk. All are great gifts. If you say you are unhappy, it is ridiculous. In fact we should dance and celebrate that existence has given us so many gifts.

We are normally focused on what is missing in life. The moment you start operating from what you don’t have, whatever you have also go into darkness.

Beggar who gave alms to the poor

    Radha Sharma,
[a story that can put thousands of rich indians to shame for never give a penny for poor people]

AHMEDABAD: A beggar on Saturday proved that charity only needs a big heart rather than deep pockets. Khimjibhai Prajapati, 64 and a beggar in Mehsana for a decade, donated clothes to 11 poor hearing and speech-impaired girls at the Shrimati Kesarbai Kilachand School for the Deaf.

Rich philanthropists have been a more common sight but it was the first time ever that a beggar had walked into the school to share his savings. It was an unusual sight. An unkempt Khimjibhai in tattered, unwashed clothes, limped through the school gates on crutches and placed the brand new clothes in the hands of 11 eager girls. He had used his savings of Rs 3,000 to buy the clothes.

Khimjibhai begs outside the Simandhar Swami Jain Temple in Mehsana and outside the Hanuman Temple. He lives nearby and asks the devotees for alms.

So why did he give alms to the unfortunate children at the school? Khimjibhai said, “I just need two meals a day and some money to send back to my ailing wife in Rajkot to cure her ulcers and lung infection. Apart from this, whatever I earn I use to buy food for poor, hungry people. Since a long time I wished to do something for girls and I am happy to donate for them”.

Khimjibhai used to run a tea stall in Rajkot but escalating prices and shrinking profit margins wreaked huge losses and left him on the streets.

His faith in God brought him to Mehsana where he took shelter outside the Jain temple. “Whether rich or poor, one should always try to help the needy,” he says. Khimjibhai helped an orphanned girl marry some time ago.

Bharat Shah, a trustee of the institution that runs the school, said, “I have never seen such philanthropy in the 35 years of career. He just goes on to prove that the true donor is he who has one roti and shares half with the hungry.”

One of those who received clothes was Swati Bhagwandas, an orphan who has been at the residential school for years. The 18-year old’s eyes shone with happiness.

    Thanks & Regards,

Once there was a time, according to legend, when a king who had no son ruled Ireland. The king sent out his couriers to post notices in all the towns of his realm. The notices advised that every qualified young man should apply for an interview with the king as a possible successor to the throne. However, all such candidates must have these two qualifications: They must (1) love God and (2) love their fellow human beings.

The Young man about whom this legend centers saw a notice and reflected that he loved God and, also, his neighbors. One thing stopped him; he was so poor that he had no clothes that would be presentable in the sight of the king. Nor did he have the funds to buy provisions for the long journey to the castle. Therefore, the young man begged here, and borrowed there, finally managing to scrounge enough money for the appropriate clothes and the necessary supplies.

Properly attired and well suited, the young man set out on his quest, and had almost completed the journey when he came upon a poor beggar by the side of the road. The beggar sat trembling, clad only in tattered rags. His extended arms pleaded for help. His weak voice croaked, “I’m hungry and cold. Please help me… please?”

The young man was so moved by the beggar’s need that he immediately stripped off his new clothes and put on the tattered threads of the beggar. Without a second thought, he gave the beggar all his provision as well. Then, somewhat hesitantly, he continued his journey to the castle dressed in the rags of the beggar, lacking provisions for his return trek home. Upon his arrival at the castle, a king’s attendant showed him in to the great hall. After a brief respite to clean off the journey’s grime, he was finally admitted to the throne room of the king.

The young man bowed low before his majesty. When he raised his eyes, he gaped in astonishment. “You… it’s you! You’re the beggar by the side of the road.”

“Yes,” the king replied with a twinkle, “I was that beggar.”

“But…bu…bu… you are not really a beggar. You are the king for real. Well, then, why did you do this to me?” the young man stammered after gaining more of his composure.

“Because I had to find out if you genuinely love God and your fellow human beings,” said the king. “I knew that if I came to you as king, you would have been impressed by my gem-encrusted golden crown and my royal robes. You would have done anything I asked of you because of my regal character. However, that way I would never have known what is truly in your heart. Therefore, I used a ruse. I came to you as a beggar with no claims on you except for the love in your hear. Moreover, I discovered that you sincerely do love God and your fellow human beings. You will be my successor,” promised the king. “You will inherit my kingdom.”
