VAIKUNTA EKADASI
SIGNIFICANCE:
As per Hindu calendar Ekadashi is a thithi that falls on the 11th
day of both suklapaksha and Krishna paksha in a lunar month. That means in a month we get two Ekadasi days. Ekadasi day has attained lot of prominence in Hindu religion as it is the most sacred, celestial and spiritual day for worshipping Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. He is Padmanabha (11th name as per 24 Kesava Namas) meaning the one with a lotus navel. He is Maha Vishnu sleeping on the great serpent Adishesha. He is AnanthaPadmanabha. He is the Supreme God, Para Brahma who has created this Universe including Lord Brahma. Vaikunta is the sacred abode and sanctum sanctorum where Lord Maha Vishnu resides. It is the ultimate place to enter and rest for all the souls. As per Padma Purana Ekadashi is depicted as the female energy of Maha Vishnu
who in the form of a damsel kills the demon Mura and protects the Indradi Devathas on this day. Pleased by the act of his Female energy He names her as Ekadashi. He also gave her a boon that whoever worship Ekadashi and observes fasting they would reach Vaikunta (His abode) and his doors will be open for such people.

From time immemorial it is the Northern Gate known as Paramapada or Vaikunta Dwara is kept open for a single day and that day is known as VaikuntaEkadashi Day.Ekadasi that is falling on sukla paksha (waxing Moon) of the lunar Month Pushya coinciding with the
Dhanurmasam has attained lot of significance and is called asVaikunta Ekadasi and is considered to be most auspicious. It is also the first Ekadashibefore the onset of Uttarayana. It is also called as Mukkoti Ekadasi, or MokshadaEkadasi. Relevant scripts are available in Padma Purana and Brahmanda Purana.
Mukkoti Ekadasi

Northern Entrance Darshan
:On this day 33 crores of devathas (Muppattu Mukkoti) will have darshan of Lord MahaVishnu. There is also another spiritual and yogic significance for the meaning of Mukkoti Ekadashi. Like we have geographical directions (North, South, East, &West),we also have directions to our body. North is toward our Head, South is towards our Feet, Front portion is East and back portion is West. We have on the top of the head (skull) a hole called Brahma Randhra (door) that is towards the Northern Direction which is not visible. Since it is on the northern direction it is called Northern door of the human body.It is said that one should visualize the image of God through the route of Ida, PingalaNaadi (left and right nostril) concentrated at the centre of the eyebrows calledSushumna Naadi (Gnana Nethram) and take it further upwards to the centre of the head where we have Brahma Randhram and have darshan of the God through the door that gets opened. This is how one should have darshan of the God in daily prayers(dhyana) or whenever visits a temple. Since it is through the route of confluence of three naadis (Ida, Pingala and Sushumna) taken further northwards it is called Mukkotiand Northern Entrance darshan. On this most auspicious day of Mukkoti Ekadashi one should have the darshan of the Lord in this form and to give a meaning to this concept all the temples provide darshan of the Lord on this day through the Northern entrance. There are 14 lokas in this Universe seven above the earth and seven below the earth.Seven above the Earth are called Uurdhwa Lokas in the Northern direction and Vaikunta is in the Northern direction. Darshan of the lord of Vaikunta Sri MahaVishnu on this day which is very nearer to the Uttarayana (the most auspicious time)also catches significance for Uttara dwara darshana.
Mokshada Ekadshi
:While fasting and worshipping on any Ekadashi day is very celestial, sacred and spiritual, fasting and worshipping on Vaikunta Ekadashi is also Mokshadayaka. It is a boon of Lord Maha Vishnu on this day.
What can be done on this day?
Worshipping Lord Sri Maha Vishnu during the early hours between 4-6 am (Pl check the local times) during Brahma Muhurtha. Since Ekadashi is the female energy of Lord it is auspicious and sacred to worship Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi also on this day.Why between 4-6 am:Because this is Dhanur Madam and time before Sun Rise is most auspicious for worshipping God during Dhanurmasam.
Fasting:
It is said that fasting on Vaikunta Ekadashi day is equivalent to fasting on the remaining Ekadashi days of the Hindu year. Persons who are capable of may undertake total fasting while others may resort to partial fasting by taking fruits or milk. Please avoid taking rice on this day as it is a curse that the demon lives in rice on this day.

May the Supreme Lord Sri Lakshmi Narayana bless all the humanity with his Graceand save the mankind from all the Evil

GAYATRI MANTRA THE BEST DIVINE PRAYER HYMN IN THE WORLD!

SAID AMERICAN SCIENTIST Dr.HOWARD STEINGERIL

Dr.Howard Steingeril, an American scientist, collected Mantras, Hymns and invocations
from all over the world and from all religions, tested their strength in his Physiology Laboratory.
He concluded that the Hindus Vedic Gayatri Mantra is the most rewarding scientifically.

That the Gayathri Mantra produced 110,000 sound waves per second. This was the highest and
found it to be the most powerful prayer hymn in the world.
That the combination of sound and variation in the sound waves and its particular frequency is capable of developing specific spiritual potentialities.
The Hamburg university initiated this research into the efficacy
of the Gayathri Mantra both on the mental and physical plane of CREATION…
The GAYATHRI MANTRA is now being broadcast daily for 15 minutes from 7 P.M. onwards over Radio Paramaribo, Surinam, South America for the past two years, and also in Amsterdam,
Holland for the last six months

Radhe Krishna All,

One should earn the merits by chanting the Divine names of Lord. You may ask ‘where can I find time as am always engaged in earning for my life?’

It’s essential for a family man to work to earn the money. However if we deeply think of that, we would understand that our time is not always been spent for earning alone.

Mostly we spent time on unwanted tasks such as gossip, ridiculing others, commenting on articles published in newspapers etc. We can effectively use these time in chanting the Divine names. Even if we couldn’t spare separate time for Chanting, we can still chant the Divine names while travelling to office through bus, train etc.

Nothing we earn today would come with us to the final destination but only the Divine Name WILL!!

Chanting

  1. Serve those who serve the Lord, don’t criticize them out of envy or false ego
  2. Worship Krishna as the “source of all spiritual and material worlds”, “the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities.” Show respect to demigods like Lord Siva or Ganesh and personalities like Hanuman as exalted devotees of Lord Krishna.
  3. Show full respect to the spiritual master in thoughts, words and actions, considering him to be a representative of the Lord. Carry out the orders of the spiritual master with enthusiasm and attention to detail.
  4. Honor (and study) the scriptures as the instructions of the Supreme Lord (dharmam tu saksad bhagavat pranitam) with the desire to understand how they are correct (not if they are correct).
  5. Have faith that the Holy Name is not a mundane sound vibration, but is in fact transcendental sound, descending from the (pure) spiritual platform.
  6. Have faith in the explanations and glorification of the Holy Name given by guru, sadhu and sastra. This knowledge is given by those who have experienced the glories of the Holy Name, and who have “seen the truth.”
  7. Root out the desire to commit sins. A sin is an action that is not connected to the Supreme Lord; something done for the gratification of the senses. Acting only for the pleasure of the material body brings you further from practical realization of your factual identity as an eternal spirit soul (separate from the temporary material body).
  8. Give up ritualistic pious activities. Transcend feelings of duty and obligation and perform all activities for the pleasure of Krishna.
  9. Discuss the glories of the Holy Name with servants of the Lord who will relish hearing about it.
  10. Chant attentively, absorbing your full consciousness in the transcendental vibration of the Holy Name.

If you can seriously follow the above ten guidelines your chanting will improve by leaps and bounds.

Sankarshan dasa Adhikari

“We should always be very grateful to Krishna for giving us the Hare Krishna mantra, and we should show our gratitude by chanting it as much as possible. That way we will bond with Him, which is our heart’s greatest desire.
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.”
