ways to make your Parents Happy

The parents now a days are quite worried about the behavioral changes in their children due to several socio-economical reasons. The gap between parents and�us, the youth,�is increasing day by day due to which the family bonding is getting weaker and weaker.�We, the youth, want liberty in every deed we do. We want our parents�not to be disturb�us in what-ever�we do�in what-so-ever manner.�We have�forgotten the amount of time�our parents have invested in for�our brought up.�We have forgotten the countless efforts and sacrifices by�our parents throughout our lives.�

Starting from our birth they have taken care of our food (  years * 365 days * 3 times = 24000 times!), our clothes (daily washing, ironing, new purchasing), our education (daily home works, uniform, school/tuition fee), religious moral teaching every day (THE REAL GREAT JOB), computer toys purchasing and God knows how many other countless efforts they have put in to make us a complete human being�to survive in this world. Indeed, all those efforts�cannot be covered in this article but the overall emphasis is that its our moral and�religious�mandatory responsibility�to take care of them now.

Below are some small�acts of kindness which I request you to consider to show your affection with them and to take care of them:

1. Give them enough money so that they don’t have to ask you.
2. Share funny and entertaining things with them to make them laugh or smile.
3. Don’t speak loudly. Speak slowly, nicely�and softly.
4. Do not walk in front of them in market or anywhere. They might walk slow being old; stay behind them. Give them respect.
5. Ask for small tasks again and again. For example, “Abou Jee, do you need water? Should i bring tea for you? Are you hungry, baba” etc�
6. Closely monitor thier health. visit doctor if required. Have them thorougly checked time to time.
7. Take care of their medicines. Set reminders on your phone for their medicines and�serve them on time.
8. Take them to the mosque. Walk slowly. Follow their pace.
9. Take them to the park�for walk. If not possible daily, then take them on weekend.
10. Do not call them by their name. Call them with respect.
11. Open the door for them with respect
12. Adapt yourself according to�their�schedule not vise versa.
13. Do shopping for them (buy their clothes, shoes, small items like tooth paste).� Buy your mother a nice coffee cup. Take them to market and buy them according to their likings. Buy your parents some nice books; usually people love to read books in old age.
14. When you come back to home, visit them first in their room.

16. In case of conflict on any issue, try to follow them as much as possible. Remember, they have been sacrificing their money and time in raising you for years and years. Its time to pay back. They have been showing all the patience during your childhood. Its time for you to be patient.
17. Keep them with you instead of sending them�to old houses etc. This will be a big act of ignorance if you do.
18. When starting the food, serve them first.

  தேங்காயில் உள்ள “ஃபேட்டி ஆசிட்” (Fatty Acid) உடலில் உள்ள கெட்ட கொழுப்பைக் கரைக்கிறது. உடல் எடையைக் குறைக்கிறது என்று சமீபத்திய ஒரு ஆய்வில் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது மருத்துவ உலகினர் அனைவரது கவனத்தையும் ஈர்த்துள்ளது.

  தேங்காயில், தேங்காய் எண்ணெயில் கொழுப்புச் சத்து அதிகம். உடலுக்கு ஆகாது. குறிப்பாக சர்க்கரை நோயாளிகள், இதய நோயாளிகள் தேங்காயைத் தொடக்கூடாது” என்ற பிரசாரத்துக்கு இந்த ஆய்வு பெரும் சவால் விடுத்துள்ளது.

  தாய்ப்பாலில் உள்ள புரதச் சத்துக்கு இணையானது இளநீரில் உள்ள புரதச் சத்து.

  மாதவிடாய் போது ஏற்படும் அதிக உதிரப்போக்கு, தென்னை மரத்தின் வேரிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்படும் சாறு நல்ல மருந்து. வெள்ளை படுதலுக்கு தென்னம் பூ மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. தேங்காய் எண்ணெய் தயாரிக்கும்போது கிடைக்கும் புண்ணாக்கோடு கருஞ்சீரகத்தையும் சேர்த்து தோல் நோய்களுக்கான மருந்துகள் தயாரிக்கப்படுகின்றன. தேங்காய் சிரட்டையில் (வெளிப்புற ஓடு) இருந்து தயாரிக்கப்படும் ஒருவித எண்ணெய் தோல் வியாதிகளைக் குணப்படுத்துகிறது.

  தைலங்கள்:

  தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்யைக் கொண்டு தயாரிக்கப்படும் தைலங்கள் பல்வேறு நோய்களைக் குணப்படுத்துகின்றன. நாள்பட்ட தீராத புண்களுக்கு மருந்தாகத் தரப்படும் மத்தம் தைலம், தோல் நோய்களுக்கான கரப்பான் தைலம், வாத வலிகளைக் குணப்படுத்தும் கற்பூராதி தைலம், தலைக்குப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் நீலபிரிங்காதித் தைலம், சோரியாசிஸ் நோய்க்குப் பயன்படும் வெப்பாலைத் தைலம், தலையில் உள்ள பொடுகுக்கு மருந்தாகும் பொடுதலைத் தைலம் ஆகிய தைலங்களில் தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்யின் பங்கு முக்கியமானது.

  எளிதில் ஜீரணமாகும் : தேங்காய் எண்ணெய் எளிதில் ஜீரணமாகும். குழந்தைகளுக்குத் தேவையான எல்லாச் சத்துகளும் தேங்காய்ப் பாலில் உள்ளன. தேங்காய் பாலில் கசகசா, பால், தேன் கலந்து கொடுத்தால் வறட்டு இருமல் மட்டுப்படும்.

  பெரு வயிறுக்காரர்களுக்கு (வயிற்றில் நீர் கோர்த்தல்) இளநீர் கொடுத்தால் சரியாகும். தேங்காய்ப் பாலை விளக்கெண்ணெய்யில் கலந்து கொடுத்தால் வயிற்றில் உள்ள புழுக்களை அப்புறப்படுத்தும்.

  வயிற்றுப்புண்கள் : தேங்காய்ப் பாலில் காரத்தன்மை உள்ளதால், அதிக அமிலம் காரணமாக ஏற்படும் வயிற்றுப் புண்களுக்கு தேங்காய்ப் பால் மிகவும் சிறந்தது. உடலுக்குத் தேவையான அமீனோ அமிலங்கள் உள்ளன. இவை உடலின் வளர்ச்சிதை மாற்றத்துக்குப் பெரிதும் உதவுகிறது.

  தேங்காய் அல்லது தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்யை உணவில் சேர்த்தால் அது உடலில் உள்ள கொழுப்பைக் குறைப்பது எப்படி?

  மீடியம் செயின் ஃபேட்டி (Medium Chain Fatty Acid) ஆசிட் தேங்காயில் அதிகமாக உள்ளது. உடலில் உள்ள கொழுப்புச் சத்தைக் குறைக்கும் காப்ரிக் ஆசிட் (Capric Acid) மற்றும் லாரிக் ஆசிட் (Lauric Acid) ஆகிய இரண்டு அமிலங்களும் தேங்காயில் போதிய அளவு உள்ளன. இதனால் தேங்காய் எண்ணெய் உரிய அளவு தினமும் உணவில் சேர்த்து வந்தால் உடல் எடை குறையும் என்று அண்மைக் கால ஆய்வுகள் மூலம் தெரியவந்துள்ளன.

  வைரஸ் எதிர்ப்பு: தேங்காயில் உள்ள லாரிக் ஆசிட் மற்றும் காப்ரிக் ஆசிட் ஆகியவை வைரஸ் மற்றும் பாக்டீரியல் நுண்கிருமிகளை எதிர்க்கும் திறன் கொண்டதாக உள்ளது. தேங்காயில் உள்ள மோனோ லாரின் (Mono Laurin) வைரஸ் செல் சுவர்களைக் கரைக்கிறது. எய்ட்ஸ் நோயாளிகளுக்கு வைரல் லோடைக் குறைக்கிறது. தேங்காயில் நோய் எதிர்ப்புச் சக்தி அதிகம். உடலின் வளர்ச்சிதை மாற்றத்துக்கு (Metabolism) பெரிதும் உதவுகிறது. இதன் மூலம் சக்தியை அதிகப்படுத்துகிறது.

  ஆண்மைப் பெருக்கி : முற்றிய தேங்காய் ஆண்மைப் பெருக்கியாகப் பயன்படுகிறது. அதில் வைட்டமின் இ முதுமையைத் தடுக்கிறது. தைராய்டு சுரப்பின் செயல்பாட்டை ஊக்கப்படுத்துகிறது.

  குழந்தை சிவப்பு நிறமாக….. குழந்தைகள் நல்ல நிறமாக பிறக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக குங்குமப்பூ சாப்பிடுவது வழக்கம். அதுபோல் குழந்தை நல்ல நிறமாகப் பிறக்க தேங்காய்ப் பூவை சாறாக்கி கர்ப்பிணிகளுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் வழக்கமும் உள்ளது.

  இளநீரின் மருத்துவக் குணங்கள் என்ன?

  மனித குலத்துக்கு இயற்கை தந்த பொக்கிஷம் இளநீர். சுத்தமான சுவையான பானம்.

  இளநீரில், செவ்விளநீர், பச்சை இளநீர், ரத்த சிவப்பில் உள்ள இளநீர் என பல்வேறு வகைகள் உள்ளன.

  இளநீரில் எல்லா வகையிலும் மருத்துவக் குணங்கள் நிறைந்துள்ளன. அளவுக்கு அதிகமாக உள்ள வாதம், பித்தம், கபத்தைத் தீர்க்கும் மருந்து இளநீர். வெப்பத்தைத் தணிக்கும். உடலில் நீர்ச் சத்து குறையும் நிலையில் அதைச் சரி செய்யும்.

  ஜீரண சக்தியை அதிகரிக்கும். சிறுநீரகத்தை சுத்திகரிக்கும். விந்துவை அதிகரிக்கும். மேக நோய்களைக் குணப்படுத்தும். ஜீரணக் கோளாறால் அவதிப் படும் குழந்தைகளுக்கு இளநீர் நல்ல மருந்து. உடலில் ஏற்படும் நீர் – உப்புப் பற்றாக்குறையை இளநீர் சரி செய்கிறது.

  இளநீர் குடல் புழுக்களை அழிக்கிறது. இளநீரின் உப்புத் தன்மை வழுவழுப்புத்தன்மை காரணமாக காலரா நோயாளிகளுக்கு நல்ல சத்து. ஆற்றல் வாய்ந்த கரிமப் பொருள்கள் இளநீரில் உள்ளன. அவசர நிலையில் நோயாளிகளுக்கு இளநீரை சிரை (Vein) மூலம் செலுத்தலாம்.

  இளநீர் மிக மிகச் சுத்தமானது. ரத்தத்தில் உள்ள பிளாஸ்மாவுக்கு சிறந்த மாற்றுப் பொருளாக இளநீர் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. ரத்தத்தில் கலந்துள்ள நச்சுப் பொருள்களை அகற்ற இளநீர் பயன்படுகிறது. இளநீரிலிருந்து தயாரிக்கப்படும் “ஜெல்” என்ற பொருள் கண் நோய்களுக்குச் சிறந்த மருந்து.

  இளநீரில் அதிக அளவில் சத்துகள் உள்ளன. சர்க்கரைச் சத்துடன் தாதுப் பொருள்களும் நிறைந்துள்ளன. பொட்டா ஷியம், சோடியம், கால்சியம், பாஸ்பரஸ், இரும்பு, செம்பு, கந்தகம், குளோரைடு போன்ற தாதுக்கள் இளநீரில் உள்ளன. இளநீரில் உள்ள புரதச்சத்து, தாய்ப்பாலில் உள்ள புரதச்சத்துக்கு இணையானது.

  இளநீரை வெறும் வயிற்றில் சாப்பிடக் கூடாது. ஏனெனில் அதில் உள்ள அமிலத் தன்மை வயிற்றில் புண்ணை உருவாக்கும். ஏதாவது ஆகாரம் எடுத்த பின்னரே சாப்பிட வேண்டும்.

From afar, the Great Banyan Tree in the Indian Botanic Garden appears like a whole forest. It’s only once you step into its shade and see the connection of branches that you realize it is one tree.

With a canopy that spreads over 14,400 square meters, the Great Banyan Tree is the widest tree in the world. From this span, more than 2,800 aerial prop roots descend down into the earth, appearing like individual trees. It’s the main draw of the botanical garden, and although no one knows its exact origin, it has been showing up in guidebooks since the 1800s.

It’s taken it over 250 years to reach this staggering stretch, and not without a few natural disasters that almost did in the whole giant arboreal wonder. In the 19th century, two cyclones hit the tree, breaking it open and exposing its main trunk which led to a damaging fungal attack. By 1925, the main trunk, which once measured over 50 feet wide, had to be removed. Yet as the sign at the tree states: “interestingly enough, the tree now lives in perfect vigor without its main trunk.”

The clonal colony continues to flourish to this day, spreading further and wider into the land around it, spawning a visual forest that is all its own.

 

GAYATRI MANTRA AND ITS SCIENTIFIC INTERPRETATION

GAYATRI MANTRA AND ITS SCIENTIFIC INTERPRETATION Gayatri mantra has been bestowed the greatest importance in Vedic dharma.  This mantra has also been termed as Savitri and Ved-Mata, the mother of the Vedas. Om bhur bhuvah swah Tat savitur varenyam Bhargo devasya dheemahi Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat The literal meaning of the mantra is: O God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty, You are all Light. You are all Knowledge and Bliss. You are Destroyer of fear, You are Creator of this Universe, You are the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate upon Your light. You guide our intellect in the right direction. The mantra, however, has a great scientific importance too, which somehow got lost in the literary tradition. The modern astrophysics and astronomy tell us that our Galaxy called Milky Way or Akash-Ganga contains approximately 100,000 million of stars. Each star is like our sun having its own planet system. We know that the moon moves round the earth and the earth moves round the sun along with the moon. All planets round the sun. Each of the above bodies revolves round at its own axis as well. Our sun along with its family takes one round of the galactic center in 22.5 crore years. All galaxies including ours are moving away at a terrific velocity of 20,000 miles per second. An alternative scientific meaning of the mantra, line by line is provided below.

Line 1: OM BHUR BHUVAH SWAH: Bhur the earth, bhuvah the planets (solar family), swah the Galaxy.  We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900 RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second. This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is Om. The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it to other colleagues. All of them, then unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time, hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first ever revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title (form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea. In the Gita also, it is said, “Om-iti ekaksharam brahma”, meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om , which contains only one syllable (8/12). This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally heard beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy = 1/2 MV2 and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or store house of energy (prana). Line 2: TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM: Tat that (God), savitur the sun (star), varenyam worthy of bowing or respect. Once the form of a person along with the name is known to us, we may locate the specific person.Hence the two titles (upadhi) provide the solid ground to identify the formless God, Vishvamitra suggested. He told us that we could know (realize) the unknowable formless God through the known factors, viz., sound Om and light of suns (stars). A mathematician can solve an equation x2+y2=4; if x=2; then y can be known and so on. An engineer can measure the width of a river even by standing at the riverbank just by drawing a triangle. So was the scientific method suggested by Vishvamitra in the mantra in the next portion as under:-

Line 3: BHARGO DEVASYA DHEEMAHI: Bhargo the light, devasya of the deity, dheemahi we should meditate.  The rishi instructs us to meditate upon the available form (light of suns) to discover the formless Creator (God). Also he wants us to do japa of the word Om (this is understood in the Mantra). This is how the sage wants us to proceed, but there is a great problem to realize it, as the human mind is so shaky and restless that without the grace of the Supreme (Brahma) it cannot be controlled. Hence Vishvamitra suggests the way to pray Him as under: Line 4: DHIYO YO NAH PRACHODAYAT Dhiyo (intellect), yo (who), nah (we all), prachodayat (guide to right Direction). O God! Deploy our intellect on the right path. Full scientific interpretation of the Mantra: The earth (bhur), the planets (bhuvah), and the galaxies (swah) are moving at a very great velocity, the sound produced is Om , (the name of formless God.) That God (tat), who manifests Himself in the form of light of suns (savitur) is worthy of bowing/respect (varenyam). We all, therefore, should meditate (dheemahi) upon the light (bhargo) of that deity (devasya) and also do chanting of Om. May He (yo) guide in right direction (prachodayat) our(nah) intellect dhiyo. The important points hinted in the mantra are 1) The total kinetic energy generated by the movement of galaxies acts as an umbrella and balances the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence it was named as the Pranavah (body of energy). This is equal to 1/2 mv2 (Mass of galaxies x square of velocity.) 2) Realizing the great importance of the syllable OM , the other later date religions adopted this word with a slight change in accent,  viz., Amen and Ameen. ஒரு ஆணின் விந்து பன்னிரண்டு வருடம் அவன் உடம்பை விட்டு வெளியேறாமல் இருந்தால், அவனது உடம்பில் சூஷ்மமான (கண்ணிற்கு தெரியாத) நாடி ஒன்று வளர்ந்து வரும். அதன் பெயர் “மேதா நாடி”. அதற்கு என்ன சிறப்பு என்றால் அந்த ஆண் மகனுக்கு அதீத ஞாபக சக்தி வந்து விடும். அவன் பிறந்தது முதல் நடந்த ஒவ்வொன்றும் அவனுக்கு ஞாபகம் வரும். ஏன் அவனுடைய மற்றும் எல்லாருடைய முன் ஜன்மமும் ஞாபகத்திற்கு வரும். அவன் எதை பார்த்தாலும் அவனுக்கு அதன் நுணுக்கம் புரிந்து விடும். அவனுக்கு எதையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை. அவன் ஒரு “மேதாவி” ஆகி விடுகிறான்.

The Gran Salar de Uyuni in southern Bolivia takes in more than 10 square kilometers of salt. It feels more like a desert than a lake.

The flat, white landscape causes optical illusions and reflects colors. There’s even a hotel made almost entirely of salt and an island where giant cacti grow in the middle of the salt lake. Gran Salar de Uyuni is 533 kilometers south of La Paz and 200 kilometers southwest of Potosì.

Jiuzhaigou National Park, Sichuan Province, China

The three valleys that form this biosphere reserve contain a network of connected lakes, waterfalls and rivers — the most spectacular of which are the Pearl Waterfalls. Spot the ancient tree trunks under the clear waters of Five Flower Lake. Wooden paths and shuttle buses help visitors get around. In the north of Sichuan, the nearest town to Jiuzhaigou National Park is Songpan.

Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya 

A streak of blue (and pink) in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru is home to thousands of pink flamingoes that flock here to feed on the lake’s algae. A UNESCO Heritage Site, Lake Nakuru National Park is also home to hippos, white and black rhino, giraffe and buffalo.Fee: US$75 per non-resident adult in high season, US$60 in low season. Fees for Kenyan residents and citizens are about US$5-10. Take a matatu 156 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, or a plane to the Naishi airstrip. 

Cascate del Mulino, Saturnia, Tuscany, Italy

Steaming hot spring water comes out of the ground at 37.5 C and cascades over a series of small waterfalls into dozens of pools on consecutive levels.Niagara Falls it ain’t, but the cascading thermal springs at Saturnia are a lot of fun. Soak in the natural sulfurous mineral water and just maybe cure ailments from rheumatism to muscle ache. About 10 kilometers north of the small Tuscan town of Manciano, northeast of Orbetello.

Skaftafell National Park, Iceland

Formed over millions of years by volcanic eruptions, rivers and glaciers, the Skaftafell National Park in southern Iceland has a variety of striking landscapes. These include an overhanging wall of geometric black basalt rocks on the Svartifoss waterfall, which inspired the architecture of Reykjavik’s National Theatre, and the majestic Skaftafellsjökull glacier that seems to have frozen in mid-flow. Drive Road 1 for 326 kilometers east of Reykjavik. Buses from Reykjavik run to the park in summer.

It is also the highest commercially navigated lake in the world and is home to indigenous people including the Aymara and the Quechua.Lake Tititica is, by volume, the largest lake in South America. Sitting at 3,811 meters (around 12,000 ft) above sea level it is also the highest navigable lake in the world. Its vast expanse of water is often cloaked in light mist and has inspired numerous local legends.Lake Titicaca can be visited from the Peruvian town of Puno or from Copacabana on the Bolivian side, 150 kilometers from La Paz.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

This series of shallow lakes in the heart of Croatia are a nature lover’s paradise, with clear waters pooled in between rocky canyons and dramatic waterfalls gushing over cliff edges. Wooden walkways make access easy for visitors. Swimming is forbidden inside the national park, but there are places for a dip outside, such as Korana Village. Look out for freshwater fish and brown bears in the surrounding hills. Fee: K110 (US$20) for adults in summer season.The park is a two-hour drive north of Zadar. There are also good bus services.

Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Australia

Made up of nearly 3,000 individual reefs, the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Queensland extends for 2,600 kilometers and is the world’s largest structure made of living organisms. It’s even visible from space.A favorite on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, this delicate ecosystem is home to porpoises, green sea turtles, whales and dugongs. But the reef is threatened by climate change and coral bleaching that occurs when water temperatures rise. Fee: An environmental management fee (EMC) of AU$5.50 (US$5.30) is charged per person per day. Base your visit from any of the towns on the east coast of Queensland between Gladstone and Thursday Island.

Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve, Madagascar

Spiky limestone rock formations and mangrove forests are part of the tropical and otherworldly landscape of the Tsingy de Bemaraha nature reserve on the western side of Madagascar. The reserve is home to chameleons, lemurs and endangered birds. Also part of the landscape is the Manambolo River, which runs red with eroded sediment from the highlands of Madagascar.The reserve is 400 kilometers west of Antananarivo.

Halong Bay, Vietnam

Thousands of small islands and standing stacks, or karsts, overgrown with green shrubbery, protrude from this peaceful bay. The popular way to explore is in a traditional Chinese trading ship — the brown-paneled sails of the junks have become as much a part of the landscape as the towering rocks.Most visitors to Halong Bay come via Hanoi — 170 kilometers away, or five to six hours on a public bus. Private cars can be hired. Even rented helicopters make the journey.

Punkaharju Esker Nature Reserve, Finland

This seven-kilometer esker, or sand ridge, was formed during the Ice Age and has been an important trade route in eastern Finland for millennia. Calm lakes lie on either side and tall pines provide shade for moss, toadstools and blueberries — easy to see how fairy tales are born. You expect a frog with a crown to hop off the nearest giant mushroom, or a mystical hand to reach out of the lake.Take a train from Helsinki to Punkaharju or drive the 350 kilometers northeast of Helsinki. 

Na Pali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii, United States

Whether sandy beaches, giant waves or volcanic craters, Hawaii has plenty of breathtaking landscapes. But the drama and scale of the Na Pali coast of Kauai, along the 17-kilometer Kalalau trail, may top them all. The lush green mountains ripple with scree slopes and ridges for more than 1,300 meters before dipping into the Pacific. Fee: No entrance fee to the Na Pali coastal trail, but US$20 for camping for non-residents.Accessible only by 17-kilometer hike from Ke`e Beach to Kalalau Valley, or by boat.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site is a unique ecosystem that supports more than 2,600 species of plant and animals. There have even been reports of a “Baikal Monster,” likely to be a giant sturgeon.The nearest city is Irkutsk, about 120 kilometers north of the Mongolian border.

Vembanad Lake , Kerala, India

Vembanad Kol) is the longest lake in India, and the largest lake in the state of Kerala. It is also one of the largest lakes in India. A lake spanning several districts in the state of Kerala, it is known by different names in different localities viz. Punnamada Lake in Kuttanad, Kochi Lake in Kochi. The Port of Kochi is located around two islands (the Willingdon Island and Vallarpadam) in a portion of this lake known as the Kochi Lake. The celebrated Nehru Trophy Boat Race is conducted in a portion of this lake, in the Kuttanad region, known as the Punnamada Lake. Brahma Kamal : known as King of Himalayan flower.Botanical name is Saussurea obvallata. The Brahma Kamal is the state flower of Uttarkhand, India.

This flower is very sacred to Himalayan gods. It looks like bliss in the form of a flower. The story goes that once Lord Shiva was in Kailash and Parvati created Ganesha, which was unknown to Shiva. When Parvati went for a bath, she posted Ganesha as a guard outside leaving a word not to let anyone in and that moment Lord Shiva tried to enter the house and Ganesha refused. In anger Lord Shiva cut the head of Ganesha, so there was just the body without the head.On Parvati`s request Brahma created Brahma kamal, with whose help Shiva placed the head of an elephant on to the body of Ganesha.

In Ramayan when the Sanjeevani herb was administered to Lakshman, he miraculously revived. In celebration, God showered flowers from heaven, which fell to the earth and took root in the Valley of Flowers. So it is called Brahma kamal, which is The God’s own lotus, far from the earth!

There is a belief that the Brahmakamal should be gifted, and not bought in the market. To grow the plant, a leaf is planted in the soil (and not a seedling or stem). This leaf then multiplies and becomes a plant to a height of about 4 to 5 feet. The flower itself is around 4-5 inches in diameter and has a lovely fragrance.
