Grilled Cottage Cheese, Soya Chunks and Veggies in Spicy Yogurt A Perfect Appetizer

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Ingredients;
(serves 2)

  • 200 gms Cottage cheese
  • Colored Capsicum 1 each
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 cup Soya chunks
  • 1 cup Cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 1 cup thick yogurt/curd
  • 2 tsp. cornflour (optional)
  • 4 tsp. Olive oil
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice

For marinade

  • 1 tsp. Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp. red chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Salt as desired

Method; Cut the cottage cheese (paneer) into cubes. Wash all the capsicum, peel the onion and slice into square shape.
Soak the soya chunks into warm water for 10 minutes.
Take a large vessel and add the thick yogurt in it, add rest of the ingredients for marinade and whisk it well. For making thick curd, tie fresh curd in a clean muslin cloth for about 2 hours and let all the water drain from it.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Squeeze the soaked soya chunks  and add all the diced veggies and cottage cheese cubes in the yogurt marinade. Keep aside for about 3-4 hours to let all the spices infuse in it.
Take a few skewers and insert all the marinaded ingredients alternating with veggies and cottage cheese. Spread rest of the marinade over the veggies.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net

Take a large aluminum foil and keep it on the baking mesh, arrange the skewers on the foil and drizzle olive oil over it. Grill it for 15 minutes and turn the skewer to other side and grill again for 15 minutes till all the veggies and cottage cheese turn golden brown.

Take out from the oven and pour a tsp. of lemon juice over the skewers. Serve the grilled veggies, soya chunks and cottage cheese with green chutney or tomato sauce.

Notes;

  1. Makes a perfect appetizer.
  2. Grind a few mint and coriander leaves and add it to the yogurt marinade to get a scrumptious variation of this grill recipe.
  3. Curd/yogurt used for marinading should be thick else, the ingredients will not get coated with spices and taste bland.
  4. If you do not have skewers you can add all the ingredients in a baking tray and grill the same.
  5. You need to have an acquired taste for enjoying the grilled Soya chunks, as they remain rubbery from inside and crisp and spicy from outside.
  6. Drizzle a tsp. of honey before grilling for a delightful flavor.
  7. Best way to eat Tofu is to grill it the similar way and enjoy.
  8. Try this cottage cheese and soya nuggets kebabs for a scrumptious grilled snack

Upanyasam by Sri Akkarakani Swamin – ‘ The Hindu ” dt 30 Aug 2012;

Lord Narayana incarnates for three reasons: to save good people, to destroy the wicked and to establish dharma.

Once an acharya was instructing his disciples on the reasons for God’s descent upon Earth.
One of them was puzzled. He asked his teacher: “There are thousands of wicked men like Hiranyakasipu these days. So why doesn’t the Lord come to destroy them?” The teacher answered that while it was true that there were thousands of people as wicked as Hiranyakasipu, there was not even one Prahlada. So why would the Lord come? The primary purpose of His avatars is to save His devotees. The killing of Hiranyakasipu was not the purpose of the Narasimha avatar, but the saving of Prahlada was, said Akkarakkani Srinidhi in a discourse.
We may wonder how the Lord will welcome us, when He has beside Him those who have been devoted to Him for years. Will new entrants be welcomed?
The answer is that just as when a new calf is born, it is given more attention than the older ones, the Lord too will give us more attention than He gives to the ones who have been loyal for many years. A cow that gives birth to a calf licks the filth off the newly born. Likewise, the Lord will welcome us into His fold, though we may not have been His devotees for long, and He will not spurn us because of our sins.
One day, Tirukannamangai Aandaan, a Vaishnavite devotee, saw two dogs fight. One of the dogs bit the other and the latter died. The owner of the dead dog was furious and he and the owner of the other dog engaged in fisticuffs. In the process, one of them killed the other. Fearing the consequences of his action, the man committed suicide. Thus, two men lost their lives over two dogs.
Aandaan thought to himself that if two men showed such love for their dogs that they were willing to die for them, how much more would God’s love be towards those who surrendered to Him?
Some who surrender to Him cannot bear to be separated from Him and seek moksha at once. Others want liberation, but not right away. God embraces both categories of devotees.

Creating and building business

Creating and building a business is not a one-man show. It requires a team effort, or at least the ability to build trust and confidence among key players, and effectively communicate with partners, team members, investors, vendors, and customers. These actions are the hallmark of an effective leader.

Behind the actions are a set of principles and characteristics that entrepreneurial leaders, like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, seem to have in common. Look for these and nurture them in your own context to improve the odds of success for your own startup:

  1. Clarity of vision and expectations. You must be able and willing tocommunicate to everyone your vision, goals, and objectives. Just as importantly, you have to be absolutely clear about who you are, what you stand for, and what you expect from everyone around you. People won’t follow you if they are in the dark or confused.
  2. Willingness to make decisions. It is often said that making any decision is better than making no decision. Even better than “any decision” is a good decision made quickly. Business decisions always involve risk, at times a great deal of it. Smart entrepreneurs always balance the risk with facts, when they have them, rather than their gut.
  3. Experience and knowledge in your business area. Effective leaders set a personal standard of competence for every person and function in the startup. It must be clear that you have the knowledge, insight, and skill to make your new company better than your very best competitor.
  4. Commitment and conviction for the venture. This commitment must be passionate enough to motivate and inspire people to do their best work, and put their heart into the effort. Behind the passion must be a business model that makes sense in today’s world, and a determination to keep going despite setbacks.
  5. Open to new ideas and creativity. In business, this means spending time and resources on new ideas, as well as encouraging people to find faster, better, cheaper, and easier ways to produce results, beat competition, and improvecustomer service. Be a role model and guide others to excel.
  6. Courage to acknowledge and attack constraints. An effective leader is willing and able to allocate resources to remove obstacles to the success of the startup, as well as removing constraints on individuals on the team. It is believing that where there is the will, there will be a way.
  7. Reward continuous learning. You have to encourage everyone to learn and grow as a normal and natural part of business. That means no punishment for failures, and positive opportunities for training and advancement. Personally, it means upgrading your own skills, listening, and reading about new developments and approaches.
  8. Self-discipline for consistency and reliability. An effective leader is totally predictable, calm, positive, and confident, even under pressure. People like to follow someone when they don’t have to “walk on eggshells” to avoid angry outbursts, or assume daily changes in direction.
  9. Accept responsibility for all actions. Everyone and every company makes mistakes. Good entrepreneurs don’t want to be seen as perfect, and they have to be seen as willing to accept the fact that “the buck stops here.” No excuses, or putting the blame on the economy, competitors, or team members.

The good news is that all of these principles of leadership are learnable. The bad news is that it’s not easy. Don’t assume that success as an entrepreneur is only about great presentations, killing competitors, or having insanely great ideas. It’s really more about leadership, understanding the needs of your prospective clients, and communicating your solutions with clarity.

Communication is arguably one of the most important business skills, no matter what your industry. Yet so many of us haven’t been trained in how to communicate with co-workers and clients. Here are some tips to help you become a better communicator:
By Lindsay Olson | U.S.News & World Report LP
1. Listen.
Most of us are terrible listeners. Instead of truly listening to what the person is saying, we interrupt, prepare our response, or think we already know what the speaker is going to say next. It’s impossible to understand what someone needs or wants if we don’t give them our undivided attention.
2. Pay attention to body language.
Body language can tell you just as much as what a person says, if not more. Observe how they act when they talk. Is your co-worker saying she can meet a deadline, but wringing her hands while she says it? She might be afraid to tell you it will be hard to make the due date
3. Consider communication preference.
Not everyone likes to communicate the same way. Email works for some, but others would rather pick up the phone and talk, text, or even use social media or instant messaging to relay something. Respect the person you’re trying to contact and use the method she seems to prefer. If you’ve called a client several times and always get her voicemail, but she’s always quick to respond to email, switch to email instead
       4. Consider your tone.
The problem with email and social media is that it can be difficult to determine the tone. You may mean something as a joke, but if it comes off pushy or angry, you could cause an unintended reaction from the recipient. Make sure your language is clear, and if you are angry, take a few minutes to cool down before you type. Better yet, meet in person so nothing is misconstrued.
5. Don’t be too casual.
Getting along with your work colleagues can help you do your job better, but don’t take it too far in your communication on the job. Keep the cursing for after hours, and make sure your emails, meetings, and phone calls are professional. Being too casual on the job may make others feel uncomfortable
6. Check your grammar
Spell check is your best friend on the job. Always proofread anything you type–be it an email, Tweet, or letter. If you’re not great at catching errors, ask someone else to proof it for you.
7. Keep criticism constructive.
If you manage others, you want them to do their best. Work to ensure your comments aren’t emotionally charged, and that the person you’re speaking with grasps what you’re trying to say when giving feedback. Provide positive reinforcement when a job is well-done, and find ways to add in tips for improvement without being “that boss.”
8. Restate what you hear.
Rephrasing what your co-worker or boss says to you by repeating the important points shows you are listening and understand what you were told. It gives both parties a chance to clarify if there is any confusion, and by repeating it, you’ll remember
        9. Get a little personal.

People let their guards down when you talk about their lives outside of work. Ask about a co-worker’s kid’s soccer tournament. Find ways to interact on a personal level without going too far. You’ll go a long way toward building trust
        10. Never stop improving.

Effective communication is a skill you must practice. Observe how others respond to your communication to clue you in on areas for improvement.
